Many of the same “VIPs” recently gave Roman Polanski a standing ovation, too. Hollywood is full of disgusting people.
The usual Hollywood commies guest list...
Nice!
Celebrating in London, but not Moscow? Why? Because the Russians despise this man. He's the "Russian Jimmy Carter."
At least he gets to die in bed, unlike some other fallen dictators.
Mikhail Gorbachev is not popular in Russia. He is seen as a failed leader.
He is more popular in the West than among his own people.
I got a chance to hear Lech Walesa speak at my University. Walesa did a question and answer session in which one of the people in attendance asked him about his opinion of Gorbachev. I will never forget Walesa's reply:
"Gorbachev never renounced communism. He wanted to make it more effective and the world was so impressed by his complete failure that they awarded him the Nobel Prize."
There was another moment after the speech when an elderly Polish man who had been in the Polish resistance to Communism and Nazism in WW2 and after before fleeing to the US called Walesa his idol. Both men hugged each other on stage.
Great pics at the link, but they are Getty and can’t be posted.
