Obama, Donald Trump, and the Collective Unconscious
The American Thinker ^ | April 01, 2011 | Robin of Berkeley

Posted on 04/01/2011 4:39:34 AM PDT by Scanian

There is a fascinating concept in Jungian psychology called the "collective unconscious." While the "personal unconscious" stores our own unique memories, the "collective unconscious" is the reservoir for an entire culture.

It's amazing how certain people and phenomena find their way into the collective unconscious, whether intentionally or not. For instance, take the term, "googling." Those young Stanford dudes didn't realize that they would not only change the nature of Internet searching, they'd add a new word into the vocabulary.

People may choose to search via Bing or Yahoo, but nobody "bings." So why did googling sweep the nation? Perhaps Google is a superior search engine. But it may simply come down to being in the right place at the right time.

There are people who become overnight sensations, both for good and nefarious reasons. Back in the 60's, everyone was familiar with those evil people who comprised the Manson Family.

And when Joe the Plumber asked Obama a question, he was suddenly famous (and subject to government investigations). While very few people outside of Alaska heard of Sarah Palin a few years ago, she became a household name as soon as she entered the national arena.

And then there's the "birther" controversy. The progressives have controlled and framed the concept right from the get-go. This has been one of the many issues (including "tea baggers") that the left has seized upon to tar conservatives.

Let me extend thanks to FReeper Robin of Berkeley for linking the term "birther" to "tea bagger." Lefty smears, both.

I think it is an apt comparison and people who use that b-word should consider its source and intention.

The Brown Clown is a DISGRACE to the country.Every time I see him walk with that pompous swagger and smirk I realize how STUPID the electorate were to put that empty suit impostor in office.

Why? Because some lefty said so.

I think my informal education on Edward Bernays and his methods has helped immunize me against much of the collective propaganda. Its also why I have a deep suspicion of Donald Trump.

I despise how he jogs down the steps of Air Force One with his arms flexed like he thinks he’s a black Rocky or something. No respect whatsoever, just trying to look cool.

The way things are going today, I think I would be watchful of my own parents if they were still around.

Nearly everybody has some angle he’s working or some agenda. It’s what’s happening.

So it is wise to beware.

Is Robin of Berkeley a Freeper?

Whatever the answer, she once again hits the nail on the head. Whenever she pens a column, I read it...and it is always a pleasure.

I posted yeasterday that if nothing else, Trump is schooling conservatives on the route one has to take to fight the left.

Rove and the “its a distraction” bunch are all wrong.

People listen when you refuse to be cowed. Rove’s bunch just get ignored and look wimpy.

People like winners and you can’t win when you won’t take your fight to the street.

Travel to Pakistan by Americans was never banned, not in 1981 and not at any other time.

Sorry to see Robin of Berkeley repeating that falsehood.

Other than that, nice job.

Trump is schooling conservatives on the route one has to take to fight the left.

--------------------------

Right you are indylindy! Republicans never knew how to fight. And most are RINOs gumming up the party.

We still get 21 more wonderful months of 'the recovery.'

Barry must be thrilled.

There's so much here to hammer this jackwagon and his administration on.

We're done listening to the fools who made him President.

Time to step up Republicans!

Hope and Change.... Tragic.

You have to understand that to confront this issue you need have courage, wit, and be relentless (the Alinskyites as we have witnessed are nothing but thugs). Trump is all of those things. How do you think he has been successful dealing in a world of international business and finance where everyone is out to screw you?

Trump isn’t going to back down. He knows now that the White House or the Gov. of HI have responded that he has a WINNING issue. And what is Jeffrey Immelt/GE going to do to Trump. Say YOU’RE FIRED from “The Apprentice”.

Trump knows what is going on in the White Hut with this imposter taking actions on all fronts to financially benefit his puppetmaster George Soros. Wait until Cori’s book is finally released and he starts making the rounds in the media to promote and discuss it!

I have no problem being called a “Birther” by Liberals and Obama Supporters. “Eligibilitist” sounds a little too...well...whatever

I am more concerned with the GOP and GOP Media types like Glenn Beck, Ann Coulter, Andrew Breitbart, Bill O’Reilly, and others who are actively supporting Obama and the Liberal Media/MSNBC/DNC cabal in helping Obama evade the issue.

I expect the name-calling from the left. I am more troubled with phony-cons who are attacking conservatives and other Americans who have some legitimate questions of Obama’s Eligibility

I am also more bothered by others who make excuses not to adress the issue...the wussified “This should not be a 2012 election issue”, or “The GOP should not pursue Obama Eligibility”, or the “We do not need a Birth Certificate because his father is not natural born anyway” (Of course you need the BC to help determine who really is Obama’s father)

Its time to take the Obama Eligibility issue seriously...and its time for the GOP and the GOP Media to get on board. The GOP/GOP Media needs to stop acting like wussified liberals....or face the backlash from real conservatives

The Media rule.

Google was around a decade before "bing.". It was right place right time -- surfing a wave of interest -- and it was a dedicated product -- and finally it was a catchy name. People will never "yahoo" or "webcrawler." google rolls off the tongue and also appealed the "collective spoiled brat.".

managing the "collective unconscious" is the goal of political power, and the antithesis of the US constitution, which protects the individual's sovereignty over itself. IMHO.

Excellent summation. So totally correct. The last line is so accurate.

I am not sure about Trump’s motives....but they sure are better than the motives of most of the GOP and GOP Media who are siding with Obama on the Eligibility issue
