I thought it was an April Fool’s thing, too, until I went out to the Crayola website:

No, the world has gone crazy. I actually had to buy a set of these to do an artwork project . . . couldn’t find “flesh” or “peach” . . . had to use these . . . and notice the small percentage of Caucasian kids are on the box . . . even though over 85% of our population is Caucasian. Very few “white” kids are shown in commercial pictures or cartoons, and certainly, very, very few “white” boys.

If anything it should be “Multi Ethnic”. How does culture determine skin tone?

Want some REAL Multicultural markers?

They come in a pack of 10.

***WARNING - THE FOLLOWING COMMENT IS NOT PC****

There’s a red marker that was always there first, but now seems to keep asking the white marker for ink.

The black marker tries to steal the caps from the other markers and blames the white marker for it.

The brown marker somehow ends up in the box even though it wasn’t there when you bought them.

The white marker just hides and is afraid to say anything to the brown or black marker.

The yellow marker manufactures all the other markers.

The other colors just sit and laugh.

Correct.

Most of the “racial” problems in the world aren’t really racial, but cultural in nature.

And the whole thing is that I’m no more “white” than they are “black” or “of color.” I’m so sick and tired of these stupid categories that the libtards so dearly love.

In all reality it makes it easier to find the proper colors for every ethnic group. The only one that seems to be missing is Boehner Orange. JUST KIDDING.

I like them. They should just be called flesh tone colors. I hate Multicultural. What would be wrong with Multi Ethnic. Culture has nothing to do with color, ethnicity and nationality do.

I’m certainly a “culturist”, and I’d gladly debate anyone who tries to assert that certain cultures are not better or worse than others.

There is a correlation between ethnicity and culture, but genetics do not determine culture/behavior.

The correlation comes because of mutual proximity and genetic and cultural isolation.

The biblical view of the cause of this is given in the account of the tower of Babel. The people refused to spread out on the earth, so God intervened.

But isn't that a stereotypical view? For years we were told it was wrong to assume people of the same color might follow the same behavioral/cultural patterns.

I just want to make sure I am being polically and culturally correct. (/sarc)

Crayola used to have a color called “flesh”. Looks like they’ve expanded to eight (which is OK, it is more accurate).

LOL! If they don't then they are being insensitive to a struggling minority class. How dare they!

Where’s “Jamaican Black”?
Those folks are amazing.

I don’t see that color in the Big 8.
