Congressman Louie Gohmert, Texas Republican, and Congressman Jack Kingston, Georgia Republican, are concerned military personnel will not be paid in time if the government shuts down next week. According to a press release from Mr. Gohmert's office:

Today Rep. Louie Gohmert (TX-01) introduced the Ensuring Pay for Our Military Act. This legislation ensures that members of the United States Military get their paycheck on time in the event that Congress cannot pass a budget.

CINC Obama and the Democrats have so screwed up the budget process that our soldiers and their families are now worried about whether their finances will be wrecked this month.

Hopefully this bill get the support needed to become law ASAP.

I call SHENANIGANS! This is simply a PR stunt to get the people on the side of passing a budget without cuts. From what I’ve read all essential services get paid without this resolution. No military person missed a paycheck in 1994.

“Stay together, pay the soldiers ... and forget everything else.” Lucius Septimus Severus

Time was, this would seem like a really simplistic statement.

NOW, we not only have a problem with the ‘stay together’ part (which ought to be the easiest), but we have to worry about paying the soldiers????

Thanks “O”!!

The Democrats did not pass the Defense Department appropriations for FY 2011. The money runs out when the current CR expires.

Hmm, maybe. A couple weeks ago here a lot of people cited family in the military saying that THIS government shutdown would NOT pay the military. Who knows what to believe anymore, except we can bet Big Media already has its marching orders how to spin it.

If we can’t find more money without borrowing it and thereby raising the debt limit and we can’t raise the debt limit, where will we find the money to pay anybody anything?

My son called the other day and everyone on base is talking about it. “O” is not favored in NC. I sent my son $$ in advance, as money is automatically deducted from bank account for mortgage, bill payments etc. Couldn’t take a chance. And to boot, if you are behind on your payments, you could lose security clearance. I am also sending him a credit card for emergencies, price of gas is killing him with a family of 5, wife & 4 kids(3 under age of 6).

The government can still OPERATE without a debt limit increase. To say otherwise is a LIE by the Media Monolith! It just can’t take on NEW debt. But it can operate on a cash and carry basis! I have not taken on new debt for YEARS! Let the Federal swine do the same!

Good thing your son has family looking out for him. I feel bad for the ones who don’t or can’t.

Then that means the GOP will pass whatever the dems want. ‘Cause you KNOW the dems will let the military starve and the media will blame the GOP.

Everytime I turn around I become more convinced that it’s too late to save this country from those who hate us and THOSE WHO BOW DOWN AND SAY “YES, WE CAN, WE HAVE AND WE WILL”.

There is NO WAY the Democrats can vote no on this...or fail to vote.

They have been snookered.

Their biggest club in a shutdown has been taken from them.

I’d rather see a ‘No Pay, No Work’ bill introduced for the military. Stating, in essence, that if no funding bill is passed for the military, that all US military personnel worldwide are stood-down. That any money left in military coffers would be used to withdraw US military forces from overseas, starting with those in combat zones.
