Tom Selleck Loses Temper With Gun-Toting Extra

TOM Selleck has quite the temper!

The actor apparently flew off the handle when an extra on the set of his TV show Blue Bloods picked up a real gun and started pointing it at people!

The extra — who was playing a cop but had never held a real gun — was horrified when Tom, a lifelong gun enthusiast and board member of the National Rifle Association, spotted him and yelled, “Hey, YOU! What the HELL are you doing? That gun’s NOT a toy — stop waving it around!”

“Look at you…your finger’s STILL ON THE TRIGGER!”

According to American tabloid the National Enquirer, the extra then squirmed, “Is the gun really loaded?”

Selleck replied, “No, it’s not loaded. But when you handle a gun it’s common sense to assume it IS loaded, and NOT point it at people!”

The comments at the source are good. Here is the best one:

"Tom Selleck’s reaction to a person pointing a real gun at people was entirely correct and justified. The person MISHANDLING the gun was violating the cardinal rule of gun safety: ALWAYS keep the gun pointed in a safe direction. The person violated another rule: Always keep your finger off the trigger until ready to shoot. There is ABSOLUTELY no excuse for someone to point a gun at someone outside of an emergency situation.

These safety rules are not that difficult, yet morons across the world continue to violate them. If you do not know the safety rules, never handle a firearm."

I had a similar reaction to two clowns at the gun range awhile back.(turns out they were not members)

There is no excuse for mishandling weapons.

Always liked this guy. Quigly was a great movie. I just showed my wife Runaway the other night, another si-fi classic.

Forgot to add Quiqby Down Under was one of the few good things to come out of Hollywood in the past decade.

Misleading LSM headline...AGAIN! The man was not a gun-toter. He picked up a gun on a movie set and it was the first time he’d ever handled a gun. They make it sound he was a gun owner.

Brings to mind Jon-Erik Hexum , the actor that accidentally killed himself on set with a blank.

The extra sounds like an idiot - only a “showbiz” publication would imply that Selleck is the one being a drama queen.

The rule is: there is no such thing as an unloaded gun.

Consider that all guns are loaded at all times, then handle appropriately.

That prevents a lot of ‘stupid’ accidents.

Sellek is right. You cannot assume it isn’t loaded. You have to assume it is loaded.

Thanks for reminding me about RUNAWAY. Gene Simmons blew me away in the villain role.

That’s why Tom reminds me of why I hate Puke-sy O donnell after that anti-gun ambush on her show.

My brother set me straight on this in much the way when I was an idiot juvenile (coincidentally it was right around the time that Terry Kath blew his brains out “accidentally”). Needless to say I got the message.

And I am suprised that these hollywood folks are not forced to go to a gun safety course before taking a role involving guns.

Oh they are liberals, rules do not apply.

It irritates me to see people at Bass Pro violate this rule. And their employees seem oblivious to it.

Temper my @ss. He did the extra and everyone else a favor. He did the mature and responsible thing.

Eddie Eagle has GREAT advice for the type of person the extra sounds like . . .

When you see a gun:

1. STOP!

2. DON'T TOUCH!

3. Call an ADULT!
