Apparently they're also getting rockets shipped in through Egypt. It's unknown whether the training includes the "don't fire celebratory rounds when there's a plane in the vicinity" section.

Why hasn’t anyone brought up Iran/Contra? I believe Oliver North had some questions to answer over that along with others. Amazing.

It’s good for me, but not for thee.

I'll take it one step farther. I believe the CIA recruited and armed these “Rebels” and have been training them for some time. The problem was when it came time to pull the trigger from the Executive Office, Obie wasn't up to the job. Now everyone is working like hell to ensure this doesn't become exposed as Obama’s “Bay of Pigs” moment.

So do I.

Our 'government' has been saying they are 'researching' ways to 'legally' arm the rebels.

This means they already have, and they know it was illegal, and they are trying to find a legal loophole before they notify the public.

At the moment, I’m puzzling over the question of how you can describe arming the rebels with weapons used to fire into towns occupied by civilians as “protecting civilians”.

The discussion of “heat seeking” makes me think this guy calls every rocket a Katyusha, since I can’t find a reference to a true Katyusha that has heat seeking capability. They’re point weapons, used against fixed installations or troop concentrations. So, it’s possible he just got training in some sort of anti-tank weapon, instead. But if he’s really talking about Katyushas, it’s impossible to supply them without risking them being used in attacks against the loyalist occupied villages that also have large numbers of civilians.

If true, this report eliminates any remaining shred of credibility in our claim that we’re not taking sides.

Yep.

...and that “show no mercy” speech of Gaddafi's, which now appears to have mis-translated, bears a strong resemblance to the Tonkin Gulf incident.

Your right ,we have to explain further that our pilots might think it is a wedding party celebration, and attack it. - tom

They better recieve training, it seems that Kadafi was trained by non other than Hitlers #1 Commando, Otto Skorzeny’s Paladin Group.

Overnight, a NATO pilot who took tracer groundfire personally took out about a dozen rebels. They need to redefine their version of “partay”.

Guess that will now make it legal for the Russians and chinese to ship weapons to daffy. What in the hell would ragtags in pickup trucks use rockets for.

You are probably correct, how else do you explain the antiaircraft guns, in the pickups. The cia was planning on fighting daffys air force, did not understand that winning a war requires closing with the side shooting at you. Daffy’s people may have taken out some of the observers/spotters by accident it seems.

Daffy's 32nd brigade also recently received training from British SAS but this is seldomly reported. My guess is that Daffy played some kind of maskirovka on them while training, and they provide faulty intel for the attack on Libya.

AQ Rebels should first receive toilet training. They are no soldier material.

Me too.
What I fear is that we will be helping to replace a
relatively docile & semi-retired terrorist with a
new and vibrant breed. Now, fast forward to the next
GOP administration and imagine the grief they will
be getting from the ‘Rats when they will need to put
US boots on the ground in Libya.

"What in the hell would ragtags in pickup trucks use rockets for."

We don't know who those 'rebels' are. They could be terrorists & would be very happy to use them against our troops.

Obama has secretly let Egypt & the U.S. to train them & arm them. He fancies himself to be a great Commander In Chief & is playing war...something he also has no clue about!!

With everyone making tons of money off of rising oil, I don’t see any great hurry for this thing to end. And if that stuff about Kadafi and Paladin Group is correct. Kadafi has some very deep deep contacts all over. Maybe when oil hits 150 a barrel. Maybe.

I have a feeling we are going to hear “shots heard around the world”.

I believe it is true. Skorzeny established Nasser's internal security (Muhabarat) witht the help of former Gestapo guys and Nasser was the guy who introduced Daffy into high politics. No doubt Daffy is well connected and on first name basis with many movers and shakers, owing to approx. $1000B of Libyan sovereign wealth.

So we used sopme of the money from selling weapons to Iran to help the Contras , anti Sandinista and anti communist rebels.

I am still not sure how this relates to the topic in this thread which is that we said we’d adhere to the UN resolution and the UN resolution does not include putting US forces on the ground in libya
Did 0dumbo say over and over he would not send ground troops?

Howevr, for the sake of your whine. Because some other admin operated in a manner you didn’t like you are using that to excuse 0dumbo?
OR are you whining that we shouldn’t hold 0dumbo to his own words because 40 years ago some one did something else?

Clearly you have a problem since you are the one who brought in something that happened 40 years ago and tried to use it somehow to link to what is going on today.

Why did you post about Iran/contra and Oliver North in this thread on Libya and 0dumbo’s lies about what we will not do?

SAME HAPPENED TO MILOSEVIC! HIS SPEECH WAS ALSO MISTRANSLATED!

Why one should read this speech
by Jared Israel

It is impossible for a society to engage in genocide unless the population is won to hate the target group. This has to be done in a systematic way. That is, political leaders must support hate in deeds but also in words.

We are told that this happened in Serbia. We are told that Slobodan Milosevic and other Serbian leaders indoctrinated the Serbian people to hate non-Serbs, especially ethnic Albanians in Kosovo province. We are told that Milosevic launched this racist campaign in a speech at Kosovo Field in 1989.

This charge made against Milosevic, that he preaches racial or ethnic hate, is significant because it supports the charge made against the Serbian people, that they were won to hatred and therefore practice genocide. Because many Americans and West Europeansbelieve these charges they are disposed to believe there must be some truth to the avalanche of pro-war propaganda demonizing the Serbs.

So. It is important to know exactly what Milosevic said in his speech at Kosovo Field. Yet nowhere do any of those who attack Milosevic’s speech quote his words. Why not?

Greg Elich, a researcher, unearthed a U.S. government transcript of the Kosovo Field speech. Please read it and ask: is it a hateful diatribe, reminiscent of Hitler? Or is it something quite different, something really quite different indeed?

Jared Israel, April 1999

Speech by Slobodan Milosevic, delivered to an estimated million people at the central celebration marking the 600th anniversary of the Battle of Kosovo, held at Gazimestan, in Kosovo, on 28 June 1989. This translation was compiled by the National Technical Information Service of the US Department of Commerce. To access the BBC translation, in text and PDF formats, go to
