Go Daddy CEO Bob Parsons: Africa Elephant Hunt Video 'Nothing to Be Ashamed Of'
ABC News ^ | 2 April 2011 | SUSANNA KIM and MICHAEL S. JAMES

Go Daddy CEO Bob Parsons has a message for those outraged by a four-minute video of an elephant hunt in Zimbabwe on his Go Daddy video site.

More Video Watch: Hunter Illegally Kills Bear Using Pastries Watch: Nat Geo: Leopard Queen Watch: Hole Rips in Roof of Plane"I think if you had all the facts and you knew exactly what was going on and the difference it makes in these people's lives there," he told ABC News Radio, "you'd feel completely different."

Parsons has said he participated in the hunt because the elephants were a nuisance destroying crops the local population depended upon for sustenance and even threatening the lives of villagers.

Therefore, his hunt solved two problems, he suggested.

"First they have their crops," he told ABC News Radio, "and they get to eat the elephant."

Parsons always has welcomed buzz and controversy around his racy Super Bowl commercials. But backlash against his recent video could damage his company's place as the number-one Internet domain name company.

This week, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals (PETA) said it will close its account with Go Daddy and is encouraging other account holders to do the same.

"We're encouraging anyone who has a domain business with Go Daddy to cut ties," said Ashley Gonzalez, a PETA spokeswoman. "He's obviously not feeling remorseful, but if his customer base speaks up, maybe he'll listen to that message."

I hate to break it to the CEO, but doing good is irrelevant to liberals. They would rather see the tribe die than an elephant be shot.

Once again PETA proves that they’re a bunch of racists.

PETA loves elephants, but they probably hate Republicans. How weird is that!;)

I am a Godaddy customer and I am going to look for ways to increase my spending there, if I can and if it makes sense.

I have a friend in northern Michigan who has gone on numerous African hunts. They're highly regulated, very expensive and the bounty goes to feed the hungry people there.

He then produces a slide show which he shows to the local school kids highlighting not only the hunt but conditions of the people who live there.....very professional in his approach.

So this fellow traveled to African, killed a nuisance that was eating people’s crops and then treated the people to barbecued nuisance elephant. And the jerks at PETA (Puppy Exterminating Trained Apes) are upset? What’s the down side?

They’ve stopped giving free hosting with domains which sucks. Because a few people were buying 50c .info domains purely for the hosting. Why not just stop the free hosting just for those cheap domains then?

PETA and other animal rights organizations do not care about animals, not one bit.

They’ve been trying to take away my city’s elephant for years. They do not care about the fact that the city is willing to invest a fair bit of money to ensure her well-being or that Lucy (her name) considers the zoo keepers to be her herd and would be heartbroken to be forced to be separate.

At Lucy’s age, even under the best of circumstances, she stands a significant chance of dying if she were transported 2000 miles away to the Tenesee Elephant Sanctuary. There is also a good chance that Lucy has been too habituated to humans and wouldn’t play nice with the other elephants.

And those points are irrelevant with them. Lucy’s death would actually serve them more than her life.
