Anger over Quran burning spreads in Afghanistan; 9 dead

KABUL, Afghanistan (AP) — Anger over the burning of the Muslim holy book at a Florida church fueled a second day of deadly violence half a world away in Afghanistan, where demonstrators set cars and shops ablaze Saturday in a riot that killed nine protesters, officials said.

The church’s desecration of the Quran nearly two weeks ago has outraged millions of Muslims and others worldwide, fueling anti-American sentiment that is further straining ties between the Afghan government and the West.

The uproar even brought violence to the normally peaceful city of Mazar-i-Sharif in northern Afghanistan on Friday, where a crowd of protesters — apparently infiltrated by insurgents — stormed a U.N. compound in an outpouring that left four Afghan protesters and seven foreign U.N. employees dead.

In an unrelated attack that nonetheless demonstrated the kind of violence plaguing Afghanistan nearly a decade after the U.S. invaded to oust the Taliban and hunt al-Qaida, two suicide attackers disguised as women in blue burqas blew themselves up and a third was gunned down at a NATO base on the outskirts of Kabul.

The Quran was burned March 20, but many Afghans only found out about it when Afghan President Hamid Karzai condemned the desecration four days later. The burning took place at the Dove Outreach Center in Gainesville, Florida, the same church where the Rev. Terry Jones had threatened to destroy a copy of the holy book last year but initially backed down.

On Saturday, hundreds of Afghans carrying long sticks and holding copies of the Quran over their heads marched through Kandahar, the largest city in southern Afghanistan and the cradle of the insurgency. The crackle of gunfire could be heard throughout the city, which was blanketed by thick black smoke.

Security forces shot in the air to disperse the crowd,

I was grilling yesterday, so I looked for a cheap, paperback copy of that “best seller.” No success in this little “Mayberry” berg, unfortunately.

I was “fired up” too.

These unwashed reprobates in Afghanistan are winning the propaganda battle.

They go on a murderous rampage each and every time because it gets results.

It is the West who will accuse Pastor Jones of the deaths and not the real culprits.

If these people spent half the time and energy working on their society that they spend freaking out about what’s happening to some stupid book halfway around the globe, they wouldn’t still be crapping in holes in the ground.

These moozlum fools are perpetually insulted about something or other...so who cares? The fact that non-moozlums exist seems to drive them over the edge into some sort of bloody orgy of violence replete with gore. I guess I should cancel my pakistan vacation trip where I planned on publically burning korans to keep my family and I warm.

The burning of the Koran had about as much to do with these killings and the killing of MLK had to do with the riots of 1968.

It was just used as a trigger to allow the killings.

These people truly want to kill and destroy anything they don’t own. Setting them off is easy.

A bigoted leader such as Jeremiah Wright, or Farrakhan are just waiting for a good excuse to turn the Black Panthers loose here in America.

If a person cannot find an actual Koran then its possible to just download an image of a cover and color print it out, wrap it around a cheap book. Burn away, post it all over the web, just keep saying its a Koran and nobody will be the wiser.

But for heavens sake DON’T buy the Koran on CD discs to burn, you will just get laughed at.

I want to see burning Korans all across America.

Burn it now or your children will be reading it at gunpoint in the future.

When they start getting all mad like that they need to be introduced to a MOAB.

The problems with the koran burning and the WTC Mosque

In all this argument of recent days, the most important fact of the matter has been obvious from the start, but is rarely spoken of by the media or the public.

Regarding the Florida koran burning, has anyone stepped back and listened to what people are saying in detail? The first thing a person will hear is how that Pastor has the Constitutional right to do what he is doing.

The next series of statements, however, are always the majority of statements made in these conversations, namely: It is the wrong thing to do, it is inciteful, it is a cult in Florida, muslims will hate us, it will endanger the troops, and, most importantly for this conversation: we are not at war against a religion, but extremists of that religion.

This is important because of the islamic world’s reaction to this Florida Pastor; namely, that the islamic world immediately protested the planned koran burning by condemning the entire country of the United States and marched and chanted promoting our deaths to cries of “DEATH TO AMERICA!”

The response by virtually all American politicians has been an apologetic tone, one where they immediately call for the koran burning to stop, observations that it IS inciteful and that the threats to Americans at home and American Troops abroad are not acceptable and that the safety of the American public are paramount in this case.

Their tone has been to cower in fear at these threats. Not one politician has stepped forward and exclaimed, “Islam is not being attacked by an entire country or an entire religion, Islam is only being attacked by a radical. Islam needs to remember we are not all against Islam and threats to our safety are wrong and inciteful and hate filled.”

Not one. They cower to the islamic world, refuse to hold them to the same standard of behavior as they insist from their own people, refuse to insist that the Pastor in Florida is an anomaly and that the United States is no threat to islam.

What they did was bow in submission to the sensitivities of the islamic world and deny the Florida Pastor his civil rights to speak out like an American.

The islamic world will not notice. They will riot anyways. It is identical to the cartoonists in Denmark. All it took was one cartoonist to make a cartoon of Muhammad and the entire islamic world was in the streets and threatening to kill anyone who makes a cartoon of Muhammad.

Theo Van Gogh made a movie about this islamic submission in Holland, and they killed him for making the movie.

The Florida Koran burning case is quite similar to the Ground Zero mosque case with some significant differences. In Florida, the Pastor must stop his koran burning or there will be violence across the globe, and in fact, even if he does stop, there will be violence across the globe due to him stating he wanted to burn korans. In New York City, the Imam who wants to build a mosque 2 blocks away from Ground Zero, he said on CNN that if we move the mosque or deny it’s construction, there will be violence across the globe.

In both cases, if we do not submit to islamic sensitivities, there will be violence across the globe, in fact, even if we do submit to islamic sensitivities, there will most likely be violence anyways due to the fact that we spoke of those things.

Free speech is threatened in Florida, and a new twist is happening in New York City, something that Israel has seen does not work, and that is LAND FOR PEACE.

The Ground Zero mosque is about LAND FOR PEACE. If we give islam the land to make a mosque, there will be peace. If we do not give islam the land, there will be violence.

Think this through people. In both of these cases, neither has anything to do with the original concerns people expressed. It is solely about whether we submit to islamic sensitivities or have violence.

It is about Islamic blackmail of the United States.

So I’m guessing my new line of pig skin wallets with “mohammad” branded on one side and “allah” branded on the other might be seen as a friendly gesture.

Burning a Koran here in the USA isn't very smart or brave.
I want to see Pastor Jones (and anyone else who believes burning the Quran is a good idea) hop on a plane to Afghanistan or Pakistan or Iran or Iraq or any mostly Muslim country, and announce that he plan to burn the Quran upon the day of his arrival.
I'd be willing to contribute to the price of the airfare (one way, of course).

I don't think anyone was trying to display how smart or how brave they were.
I think Pastor Jones was trying to show the world what a crazy, bloodthirsty, irrational religion Islam is.

Mission Accomplished.

Go to a website where you can download a copy of the Koran. Download it. Then delete it.
