Businessman and "Apprentice" television star Donald Trump blasted President George Bush today, calling him "probably the worst president in the history of the United States," and blaming his 2004 victory on the Democrat ticket. Appearing on CNN's "Situation Room," Trump was asked by host Wolfe Blitzer his opinion of Democrat presidential candidate John Edwards. "I don't know him," Trump answered. "People like him. I know people that like him very much, but I really don't know him." Trump went on to say that Edward's experience as John Kerry's 2004 running mate was a negative in his estimation. "Well, I think that's a huge negative, because that was a shame that that race was lost, because look what we have right now," Trump said. "It's a disaster. So, you know, I would probably be inclined not to like him on the basis that he lost an election that should have been won. That election should have been won." Trump noted that the blame fell on Kerry as well. "He's a friend of mine. But I'm so upset that he blew it," he said. "I think Bush is probably the worst president in the history of the United States. And I just don't understand how they could have lost that election." The entire transcript of Trump's interview with Blitzer can be read here.

OK so where are all the “real” conservatives? Hiding under their desks?
Trump is a true looney is he believes Carter and obamma are better presidents than Bush!
Bush is safe. LBJ already meets all requirements.
Well these statements should dispel all doubt about how big a village idiot “The Donald” really is.
Better to keep one’s mouth shut and be thought a fool, rather than to speak and remove all doubt there, The Donald.
Bush’s eight years had more mistakes than Obama’s two. The handling of Katrina was a nightmarish bungle. “Brownie,” anyone? No Child Left Behind. The list goes on and on.
Now, if Obama had eight years, he’d probably have MORE mistakes than Bush at his current rate.
Yep. And we’re supposed to bash Glenn Beck for thinking this wighead is a phony baloney. Which he is. Don’t be tools for this egomaniacal assclown.
I have a theory that Trump’s newfound conservatism is really an attempt to divide conservatives a la Perot in order to help Obama. Just saying ...
As I’ve said previously. I won’t vote for Trump, but I’m cheering him on like hellfire in his personal crusade to find Obama’s birth certificate.
If you look at Trump’s political contributions record, you’ll find that he has donated to every sleazebag in office.
Trump is a populist. And when I say populist, it means he’s saying whatever he thinks will make him popular.
If the Rug is a “conservative republican”, then I am a SEIU, ACORN supporter.
I’ll wait to see if he runs and what his issues are.. Fact is Trump is more of a Conservative on more than a few major issues that Bush was/is
I agree with your point, Bush was a very crappy president but Trump jumping on the Obama-stimulus band-wagon in early 2009 shows he is hardly what we are looking for. He was for TARP too.
geez would somebode please get this walking carpet (rug) out of the way before he screws things up for 2012?
Yep. He is Perot. And even more annoying.
>> And we’re supposed to believe this guy is a conservative republican?
Trump is a loudmouth blowbag. Trump serves Trump only, and no particular ideology or principle. He’d call himself a Rastafarian if he thought it would play well in Peoria.
Still it’s fun to watch him beat Odumbo about the head and shoulders with the BC thing. I wish him great success in that endeavor. But POTUS? No way.
Considering Bush turned out to not be that much of a conservative, this isn’t a good way to start an argument.
If you dig deeper, Trump also liked Reagan and didn’t like Carter that much, but says Carter is a better ex-President than he was a President (arguable, but nowhere near as bad as saying he was a “good” President).
He still voted for, and contributed to Bush. He just became disappointed in him as his second term wore on.
I can’t really disagree, but I’d never say he was the “worst president” we’ve had. That’s a bit over the top.
Trump has to prove himself, but I don’t discount him simply due to these comments.
Just the fact that John Kerry ‘is a friend” tells you everything you need to know about Donald Trump. I’m sure he dislikes Obama. Kerry’s bitter rant about how voters are sucked in by “catchy slogans” tells you that Kerry is bitter about Obama’s win. Obviously he thought his Dem voters were too smart for such tricks. That said, the only reason Trump is running as a Republican is because 1) Obama will surely get the Dem ticket next time out and 2) After Obama, this nation will not be feeling friendly toward the Dems.
DING DING DING!
Trump’s motives are so transparent. He blamed Bush for his bankruptcy instead of placing the blame where it belongs : himself.
>> Bush was a very crappy president
Compared to what?
Carter, Clintoon and Odumbo are very crappy presidents.
Bush is #2 behind Reagan since WW2, IMHO. At worst, #3 behind Reagan and Eisenhower.
So was McCain, and Bush himself. As well as Herman Cain I think. And many Freepers, at least grudgingly supported the first TARP.
The bank portion of TARP for all it’s horror actually turned out to be a net profit. I’m not saying it was right, but ended up a net profit.
Now, the Fannie/GM/etc part...well that’s a whole ‘nother ball of wax.
Katrina was not Bush’s mistake. The press covered for the Dem mayor and the Dem governor and pushed an agenda that many Americans fell for. Bush made some foolish choices but the main problem in that entire saga was the press - right down to their pretense that the people weren’t actually shooting at their rescuers. We watched history being re-written right as it was occurring.
Where did he do that?
Trump panders to knee jerk reactions but lacks real substance.
Are real conservatives allowed on TV?
The LAST thing we need is another open borders-bank bailout-corporate government stimulus-pumping born millionaire as a Republican candidate. He is a just another corporate snake oil salesman who is trying to take advantage of the current vacuum to get on TV. He belongs back on The View with Rosey.
All we need is a expert in (personal business) bankruptsy in charge of a government that creates it's own money.
RE :”So was McCain, and Bush himself. “
That is your argument FOR Trump ??? LOL
Wrong, wrong, and wrong. Katrina, in particular was not an error, at least in reaction to the crisis. Bush was in front of the problem while the idiot governor and mayor mishandled the situation entirely. If anything, it was a PR error for the White House.
Obama has run our economy into the ground. Bush maintained low unemployment, a great business environment, and pro-growth strategy. We saw a bad situation on the tail end of his second term, but that doesn’t erase otherwise historically good numbers during a time of multiple crisis - a falling economy when he entered the White House, 9/11, Katrina and a housing bubble many years in the making. Did Bush do everything right? Absolutely not, but he did a lot more things right than wrong. Comparing his time to Obama’s first two years of massive government expansion, crippling ant-business policies and international cow towing to commies and tyrants is simply incorrect.
Yup. However most big-business types donate to both sides. Trump has donated to Hillary AND McCain, to Gillibrand as well as Tom Coburn and George Allen.
It’s basically a way to keep a target off your back with regard to your business interests. A sad fact of today’s political world, but that’s what it is.
Trump , at best, is a moderate, slight left leaning Democrat or a very liberal RINO.
It’s been years since that happened. There have been some blips lately, but I think those were on businesses that bear his name, but he doesn’t himself really run or have all that much involvement in.
Devil’s Advocate: Isn’t a guy who can bring himself back from the ledge financially worth looking at?
CAN YOU IDIOTS STOP BASHING GLENN BECK NOW?
How utterly, unbelievably stupid to be a tool for this assclown Trump.
Bush was sooooo bad - but the democrat ticket in 2004 was worse.
Now there’s some profound political insight.
Perot was 100% right BTW.
Trump the Chump. Just what we need,,,the host of a reality show as president.
Donald Trump-— appalled by trade deficits with China and oil producing nations
George Bush-— He could care less. His attitude is free markets will take care of all that plus GW is an internationalist
DennisW-— I am not an internationalist and neither is Donald Trump.
Donald Trump-— put troops on the Mexican border
George Bush-— Amnesty para sus amigos
Dennisw -— we need some xenophobia to counteract our loony toon open borders policies
By the way Perot started the outsourcing of IT workers..
No one ever considered him a conservative. He is a celebrity playing politics.
4% unemployment under Bush. Nuff said.
“The handling of Katrina was a nightmarish bungle.”
You have no clue
Wow it is amazing when someone talks like a populist you fake conservatives looks like the biggest suckers in the world when someone says the supposed right thing. The free market is way to go..
Unemployment is your only measure of a President?
Obama today we have Bush cause it did.
So this idiot would have preferred Kerry over bush nd believes George W Bush was the worst US president? This guy is worst than a RINO. He’s a dem.
now that it’s the norm, he doesn’t have a choice if he wants to remain competitive and that doesn’t change the fact that he was right in 1992 when he warned us of the “giant sucking sound”.
