Two local families are dealing with loved ones lost over the weekend due to allegedly drunk drivers. The first crash early Saturday morning in South Fairmount killed a three year old boy and leaves his mother in the hospital. The second crash late Sunday night in Hamilton killed a woman. Local 12's Rich Jaffe says there are some other unusual and sure to be controversial similarities between the cases as well.
This morning, Rodolfo Temaj Felix walked into a Hamilton County courtroom for arraignment. He's charged with the hit and run accident Saturday morning that killed three year old Shakir West, and sent his mother Niya to the hospital with serious injuries. Tamaj Felix was in court last Thursday, pleading guilty to driving without a license.
Shakir's father told Local 12 of the loss, "That was my only son, I'm gonna miss him a lot."
Police say Temaj Felix was under the influence when he slammed into the mother and child crossing the street in a crosswalk. He never stopped. Shakir's father says Temaj Felix should spend the rest of his life in prison for the incident. "The doctor took me to the room where my son was, and at first I thought there was a possibility he could make it but then he told me what actually happened, that he died on impact where his spinal cord was detached from his brain."
Barely a day after Shakir West was struck and killed in Cincinnati, a very similar crash happened in Hamilton, claiming the life of a Hamilton woman. Again the driver and allegedly drunk, Hispanic male with no drivers license. Police say in that crash Jennifer Bowling was coming home from work Sunday night when a car driven by Julio Cesar Olvera-Mejia veered left of center and hit her head on. He and his passenger also left the scene, arrested later at a Fairfield Hospital. "When you're born here and you're a criminal, you're a U.S. citizen...you may be a bad person but you've earned that right. These are people who aren't even supposed to be here." The similarities between the crashes strike a cord for Butler County Sheriff Richard Jones, an outspoken advocate for immigration reform. He says there is a solution. "The way to fix it immediately. We have to run more checks, we have to stop people, we have to take their cars away we have to impound their cars in the neighborhoods where they live, where they drive, pretty simple you've gotta take them off the streets."
The funeral for Shakir West will be held at the Walker Funeral Home in Mount Healthy, no date has been announced. The family tells us they're waiting to see if his mother will be well enough to attend. To help with expenses a fund has been set up in the name of Shakir West at any Fifth Third Bank.

If we had comprehensive immigration reform and fixed our broken immigration laws Rodolfo and Julio would not be living in the shadows and they could get drivers license and buy insurance and life would be swell. /s

I think illegals should have immunity from all US and state laws because we need them to do the work that Americans won’t do. It is racist to subject these poor, hard working people with great family values who are just trying to support their families to harsh American justice.
If we don’t take care of these illegals, they will vote against us.
Tragic, and I feel for Shakir and Niya West, but what you want to guess they voted for the politicians that make sure the borders stay open to allow the scum that killed their child?

Too many still support GOP candidates who are not committed to sealing the border, and deporting 100% of all Illegal Aliens. Anything or anyone that does not support 100% deportation of all Illegal Aliens supports Amnesty
Also, stop supporting the Chamber of Commerce (national, state and local) and businesses who are members of this pro-Illegal/anti-American group.
And, publically criticize all the Hispano-racist and Hispanic KKK groups that push Illegal Alien Amnesty. These people promote the crime and murder committed by Illegal Aliens (esp those from Latin America).
When the drunk illegal aliens start crashing into armored limos maybe they will.
Drunk driving then fleeing the scene is a game just like soccer to these illegal Mexicans.
American citizens will be expendable as long as we have politicians who are indebted to lobbyists, activists, attorneys and judges who pander to illegal aliens. Only when someone of high enough stature or their family member(s) become victims of this plague upon us, will as much as an eyebrow be raised to bring attention to it. One might say the issue is as important to them as the relevance of whether our president is, in fact, eligible for his job. Disregard for the Constitution and the Rule of Law is of epic proportion in both matters.

Those in Ohio better get used to having their loved ones slaughtered by illegal aliens, then being forced by government to pay for their medical expenses, food stamps, law suits, schooling, jails, pay to deliver their babies, health care, etc etc...

The greedy fat corps and business people contribute to their corrupt political campaigns to keep that low wage illegal labor coming and those borders open. In addition, many of them are likely being paid off by billion dollar drug cartels to keep those borders open.

Profits regardless of consequences, will eventfully leave America dead on the floor.
They are not unlicensed drivers. They are undocumented drivers.
I sure wish the families could sue the Federal government for failing to protect their loved ones from these criminal invaders. The lawyers for the plaintiffs would have no problem proving the Fed intentionally created the situation.
