Good question. I don’t know where she got her Masters. The interesting thing was that she made us well aware that she had it, and now that I think about it, I was completely unaware of what the education level was of most of my other coworkers. Actually I was shocked to learn that a few of the best coders we had did not have degrees at all.

I remember when Omaha was the call center capital of America.
Why Omaha? Business determined that Nebraskans had no discernible regional accent whatsoever.

That and I think Omaha was a major communications hub because of SAC. So we don't sound like we're from anywhere in particular (and many would say Omaha IS nowhere in particular), plus good Telecom.

I like one guys comment in the article:
"If you pay peanuts, you get monkeys," says Vijay Thadani, chief executive of New Delhi-based NIIT Ltd. India, a recruitment firm that also runs job-training programs for college graduates lacking the skills to land good jobs.

Customer support isnt really the top notch job anywhere in the world. Even the ones here in US are of mediocre quality. At least the kids in India have some college degrees, doesnt matter what. Customer support is often the first victim of any cost cutting measure. You get what you pay for.
