Tell that to George Washington who prayed to GOD for Divine Providence.

I would love for God to take an interest in American politics. But it’s up to us to bring our nation under His will.

Trump is angry with the Chinese as they have gotten the best of him and he can’t take that. So cross out the Chi-Coms.

Why do you hate Trump so much?

Rupert Murdoch bought out the Wall Street Journal.

He's semi-retired now, his two lefty sons are running the day-to-day operations of the Murdoch's vast media empire including the Fox News Network.

We're seeing what's happening to Fox...and the same thing is happening to the WSJ, maybe a tad slower, but surer.

Don't know if you're running a snark attack on ol' nopardons, or what, but he/she is a Trump supporter now. Funny that you even looked up such an ancient comment to begin with.

Heck, check my opinions about Trump from 2011, and you'll probably see much the same. The man didn't make me a believer until June 2015.

I might as well get it out there that I might have made an anti-Trump comment or two over the years and if one would search the Free Republic archives from the 1999-2007 period, they might be able to unearth them. I forget now what it was bad I said about Trump. Maybe having to do with his hair.

I'll bet the majority of long term Freepers have.

It was hard for me to take the man seriously in years past. I respected his success and abilities in business, but I didn't consider him to be a credible actor in the public policy arena.

But he slowly turned my viewpoints about him around, after announcing his candidacy and his forceful positions on illegal immigration. Once he'd grabbed my attention with that, I began to actually study the man in depth.

Over the course of a few weeks, I gained a new appreciation for who he actually is, a lot of his personal history, his many lesser known accomplishments, his unsung kindness to others, and the depth of his understanding of the existential issues of our time.

I've become convinced that he is, hands down, the best candidate in the race, to lead our nation out of the slow motion collapse we're living through.

Why are you using that nic? Obviously you aren't "FAIR" or even a rational person. May Santa bring you nothing but one small lump of coal!

Thanks, Windflower; there is a small group of terminally nuts TDSers, who look up my old posts and post them now and even go to an anti-FR site that has trashed me and link to it here.

If they imagine that they are going to get me to stop supporting Trump and/or somehow "shame" me with these puerile tactics, they belong in straight jackets.

Merry Christmas to you and yours and may you all have a blessed, happy day tomorrow.

I recently had an anti-Trumper do something similar to me. He found some pro-Cruz comments I'd made in 2013 when Cruz was battling with the Gang of 8, and re-posted them in order to 'shame' me.

I sort of scratched my head and wondered out loud why he was bothering, as I wasn't going to retract a word I'd said. At the time, it looked for all the world to me that Cruz was doing the Lord's work in the Senate, and I fully supported him in that.

It was only recently that I discovered the worrying details contained in his amendment to the amnesty bill that was being voted on at the time.

Had I understood what was under the hood of that amendment at the time, I would have been as turned off then, as I am now. In my view, it's just too slick by half, to offer an amendment that gives any sort of aid and comfort to the invaders - while calling it a 'poison pill'.

Anywho....the knives are out, and some folks are so desperate to support their favored candidate, they'll draw blood on their own brethren to support him.

I'm not quite to that point with Ted Cruz, but I will say that I've gone from being an enthusiastic, broken glass, donating supporter, to being very lukewarm about his presidential ambitions.

Unfortunately (for Ted), during the same time that he was beginning to do things that gave me real pause, in comes Donald Trump, who has only done things that have caused me to support him more and more.

Beyond the things each one of them has said and done over the course of this campaign, it's my honest feeling that Trump is far better suited for the task at hand, than is Ted.

It's time for the type of leader who has the kind of courage and skill that wins historic victories over the nation's enemies - not another politician - even one as talented as Cruz.
