"Nancy — you’re the best. Congrats. Donald" (Pelosi and Trump)
Hot Air/Politico ^ | 4/6/11 | Maggie Haberman

Posted on 04/07/2011 10:19:30 AM PDT by Do Not Make Fun Of His Ears

(Mark Levin posted a link to this on his Facebook page):

Donald Trump sent Nancy Pelosi warm wishes when she was sworn in as House Speaker in January 2007, praising her as "the best" in a personal note.

Trump, who’s now mulling a Republican run for president, penned the note on a copy of a New York Times article that chronicled Pelosi's swearing-in, and wrote, "Nancy — you're the best. Congrats. Donald," according to sources familiar with the missive.

(snip)

Trump, now a registered Republican, is a former independent and former registered Democrat. And the Pelosi note is a reminder that he has a past political history of supporting both sides of the aisle.

Trump confirmed to POLITICO he wrote the note, but said it was "because I want her to do great, and I want this country to be great, and I [didn't] want her to fail as Speaker. And I like her."

“I met her a number of times and I liked her,” he added. “And I really want her and everybody in office to do great. so because of the fact that i met her a number of times and really liked her, and then she became Speaker, I sent her a note.

Trump is no conservative.

Few of the potential 2012 GOP candidates would please everyone here at FR, but if any of them want to vociferously pursue an issue that drives both the White House and it's MSM lapdogs crazy, we should applaud.

I’m sure if you go to Trump’s barber, dry cleaner, favorite coffee shop, etc. you’ll find a photo of Trump with an inscription reading “To Joe (or ‘The Gang at A-1 Cleaners’, or ‘Vinnie, Marie and Family’), You’re the Best! The Donald.”

Yello! Yello! Anything between them ears?

On August 13, 2010 Mark Levin calls dual citizens, citizens by statute. Now tell me, how can a person born with allegiance to a foreign nation, a person born with dual allegiance or in Jindal’s case, no allegiance to the US at all, be considered an Article II “natural born” citizen? Why don't you call Mark up & ask him that? Oh, I forgot, he doesn't take calls pertaining to issues that might hurt his political candidate choices.

I'll have the transcript of Mark's words & Mark saying them live at my site in a bit for all to hear for themselves that Mark agrees, Jindal and possibly Rubio are citizens by statute, not by nature as required by Article II.

I agree. I don’t care right now about anything Trump may have done or not done in the past, or what his plans are for next year, or whether he is serious about running.

I support what he is doing NOW.

Exactly. We'll deal with his Presidential aspirations when the primaries come around, but for now, I'm 100% behind him.

FWIW, he told a panel in CNBC (I think) he was looking forward to the financial disclosure.

Yeah, but look at the end of the article, what he said to the reporter.

“When I send Nancy a letter, I want her to do a great job for the country, not for her party. OK, honey?”

Bet that pissed her off.

I’m a Cain guy - I love the Hermanator. However, if he can’t gain traction, I may vote Trump by default...because who else do we have? Romney? Please. Palin? Great gal, but can’t win the general. I also think she’s going to decide NOT to run. Bachmann - no traction and low name recognition among the unwashed - that’s Cain’s problem too but both deserve at least a shot to prove themselves. Huckabee? Heck no. Gingrich? He’d lose worse than Palin.

Trump, OTOH, is well-liked (he’s a “love to hate” type but gets the job done) and has balls that make Chris Christie look almost milquetoast in comparison!

I do not care if Trump will not go on Levin. But Levin can boost his ratings by pretending to be aggrieved by someone with the name recognition of Trump. If and when each needs the other, something will happen. Right now, if Levin is complaining about that, it’s just theater.

If you think Mark Levin is more concerned with ratings than getting to the truth, you know nothing about Mark Levin.

He gives away his podcast for free, even though advisors tell him to charge for it.

Save your cheap, ignorant slander.

Did Levin give away “Liberty and Tyranny” for free? Funny, I paid for my copy. I even read it. I even hosted a few discussion groups on it. But let’s face it, he is in the biz of selling advertising for his show, and picking a feud with the man at the top of today’s headlines is one way to up the ratings.

Levin has to pay the bills like everyone not on NPR. So does Rush. So does Beck. So does Hannity. It’s not a slight, just point of fact. I don’t give a hoot if Trump appears on any of those shows until, as I said, some situation makes them need each other. That will probably come as the primaries heat up and we see if Trump is really serious. I imagine the media folks who are used to annointing candidates as “conservative enough” might be a bit peeved that Trump can currently afford to ignore them. For that matter, I expect that the Republican royalty who have predestined Romney as the man due for his turn at bat (like McCain, like Gerry Ford, like Bob Dole) are likewise annoyed.
