Are Japanese Elite Hiding A ‘Weapons Program’ Inside Fukushima?
New America Media ^ | 4/6/2011 | Yoichi Shimatsu

April 7, 2011: Yoichi Shimatsu / New America Media News Analysis – April 6, 2011

Confused and often conflicting reports out of Fukushima 1 nuclear plant cannot be solely the result of tsunami-caused breakdowns, bungling or miscommunication. Inexplicable delays and half-baked explanations from Tokyo Electric Power Company (TEPCO) and the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI) seem to be driven by some unspoken factor.

The smoke and mirrors at Fukushima 1 seem to obscure a steady purpose, an iron will and a grim task unknown to outsiders. The most logical explanation: The nuclear industry and government agencies are scrambling to prevent the discovery of atomic-bomb research facilities hidden inside Japan’s civilian nuclear power plants.

A secret nuclear weapons program is a ghost in the machine, detectable only when the system of information control momentarily lapses or breaks down. A close look must be taken at the gap between the official account and unexpected events.

I sure as heck hope that Japan is nuking up. We’ve basically thrown in the towel, and they’re in a REALLY NASTY neighborhood.

They better be preparing for some serious junk...or they will soon get CLOBBERED.

yeah it can be very left leaning esp if you pick the African section. But many comments are not leftist, it can be a good source for international news.

“It would be like Israel coming out and declaring it has nukes. Some noise would be made but everyone serious already knew about it.”

It’s an open secret, otherwise it couldn’t act as a deterrent. Word was that Saddam Hussein was threatened with them during the first Gulf War; that if he used anything like non-conventional weapons, chemical, etc., in the scuds he was firing at Israel, they wouldn’t restrain themselves from using their capability. He abstained on the non-conventional part.

Israel is in a position where if they admit officially they have them though, America is unable to provide certain kinds of aid anymore, financial is the one I’d heard but maybe also military, due to some directive we have about proliferation and membership in the body regulating it, from what I recall. They were obtained by fooling the French, and then later America, at Dimona, which was built on the conditions it would only be a peaceful atomic energy plant.

I think all interested parties, especially the Chinese and North Koreans, understand that Japan has a nuclear industry and military establishment that could begin producing atomic weapons within a few days or weeks of being told to do so. This has to be handled sensitively, given the population’s touchiness about nuclear technology generally and nuclear weapons specifically, but the leaders of Japan are not suicidal or eager to be made susceptible to nuclear blackmail. Japan is as close to an atomic power as it can be without actually detonating a device.

Normally with experience comes wisdom, knowledge and ability.

But in your case I suppose you’ve spent “old times” engaging in ad hominem attacks vice substantive reasoning.

Furthe, for your information the term “A—hat” is not family friendly, despite what you hear daily at your public school. When my kids used those type words, this old timer made them suck on a bar of soap.

You went after the OP and indicated that the Japanese were storing rods on site because the could not store them at Yucca.

Yucca was designed for US waste only.

Bad form on your part.

“I think we need to send Obama and Pelosi and Reid over to the plant to verify that there are no nuclear weapons being built.”

I like it, a close up tour of unit 1 would really open their eyes. “Send in the clowns”

It’s clear you didn’t read the whole article. I’m not sup- positing anything except that it’s a possibility. Esp, given their proximity to N. Korea and China, and his detailing a former war criminal’s involvement in the creation of METI. Not to mention the unreliability of an Obama led weakened US to provide a deterrence. But then, name calling seems to be your forte as opposed substantive debate. I’d call you a moron in retaliation for idiot and an the other profanity you used, but that would be so grade 8; so I won’t.
