They say you shouldnt bite the hand feeds you, but that isnt stopping MSNBCs The Last Word host Lawrence ODonnell.
In a brazen display of political loyalty trumping company loyalty, ODonnell took to airwaves on his Thursday night program to suggest NBC Celebrity Apprentice host and potential 2012 GOP presidential candidate Donald Trump is on his birther crusade in order to bolster his shows ratings.
ODonnell explained to his guest, Washington Post columnist Jonathan Capehart, that since Trump has been making the media rounds discussing the birth certificate of President Barack Obama, there has been a jump in his NBC shows ratings.
Jonathan, I want you to take a look at the ratings chart for Donald Trumps NBC show Celebrity Apprentice, ODonnell said. It starts off below the 8 million-mark. It also starts off very low in the demo, in the audience 18 to 49, to 2.8. As it gets crazier, it goes straight up. Hes now above a 3 in the demo which is the number NBC cares about the most. Hes at a 3.1. He was at a 3.0 the week before. It used to be on NBC on prime time you could get a show canceled off of NBC prime time if you fell below the 3.0. I know it happened to me. But know that NBC is not the number one network, it desperately needs numbers like this. I have said all along this fake campaign is about these numbers. Its the only way Trump could get attention to his show this time around. This was the way to pump up those numbers and his paycheck from NBC.
Capehart attempted spell out and debunk each point Trump has been making about Obamas birth certificate, which he did in a Wednesday afternoon post on WashingtonPost.com for viewers.

I wanna see O’Donnell and this Capehart screwball try to “debunk” Trump to his face.
I’d pay a dollar to see that!
Just the rantings of a madman. Larry’s certifiably insane.
McLaughlin is over the hill now but he used to be pretty good at stifling OD.
NBC would do well to put Larry back in his rubber room.
If it works for Charlie, it should work for O’D too.
The scary thing is that most GOP would support O’Donnell on firing Trump on NBC for raising the Birther issue.
When Marco Rubio and Allen West attack Birthers and support Obama....it is not a stretch at all to say that these two, and the GOP, support Obama over Trump on this issue
The fact is: Obama obviously was not born here....and not only the Liberal Media....but the GOP and the GOP Media....is siding with Obama on the issue
Go Trump Go
Documenters, provers, constitutionalists. We are many things.
But we are not Birfers.
Let’s leave that at DU where it came from and still belongs, IMHO.
Trump has said as much.
Remember when O'Donnell screamed this and had a meltdown on TV???
Typical MSNBC...fire him once he starts getting better ratings. LOL, no wonder they suck so bad...TV should be reserved for the partisan windbags who no one wants to listen to, apparently.
Apparently I’m about the only one here on FR who never saw it but it sounds just like O’D who, like O’Reilly, thinks that studying at Hahvid gives him some special insight and authority.
I’m surprised ComCast is putting up with MSNBC’s childishness.
I’ve heard the network is somewhat profitable so maybe that’s why. But does ComCast want to be thought of as GE Jr.?
There does appear to be a preponderance of evidence that Ivy League grads are destroying US. Kind of like college educations did to old Europe of the previous century.
How idiotic. Trump doesn't need NBC's paychecks. It is an ego boost for him at most, and more likely his way of keeping himself in the public eye should he wish to seek elected office.
Don’t you know it!
AJ of the SEC
Maybe Trump pulled together an interesting and entertaining cast???
