Toyota to Halt Output in N. America after Japan Quake
New York, April 8 (Jiji Press)--Toyota Motor Corp. <7203> said Friday it will suspend vehicle production at 13 of its 14 North American plants due to disruptions in Japanese-made parts and component supplies caused by the March 11 massive earthquake and tsunami.
The 13 plants will stop operations for four to five days in the April 15-25 period, the top Japanese automaker said. Production plans for April 26 and beyond have not been decided yet.

Probably a smart move for the nation of Japan. Not so good for us. I suppose Obama will blame the Tea Party.
It must be the hari-kari mentality. But in the meanwhile American workers suffer.
Bring the factories here. Pronto. Even if the Japanese factories were not damaged, they are rationing power, and the government is giving preference to residential power consumers over factories. We have power, so pack those factories up and move them here.

They stopped just in time a few years ago, they do kaizen now.
It is going to be a while for the Japanese to recover from that particular quake,it will affect any country doing business with them.
I hope Ford picks up their market share.
Toyota violates their own rules about long supply lines by purchasing parts in Japan.
Kaizen and JIT are not even related concepts.
Yeah I know. Hubby got it wrong. But, the company he works for informs their employees incorrectly.
