I am deeply suspicious of people who have a conservatism conversion right before they want a Republican Party endorsement....call me cynical.
I'm likewise cynical but also willing to be open minded (albeit with a "trust but verify" stance) with the canidates. I look toward Jim's founder's statement as a verg good measuring stick for presidential hopefuls:
"Free Republic is PRO-GOD, PRO-LIFE, PRO-FAMILY, pro-Constitution, pro-Bill of Rights, PRO-GUN, pro-limited government, pro-private property rights, pro-limited taxes, pro-capitalism, PRO-NATIONAL DEFENSE, pro-freedom, and-pro America. We oppose all forms of liberalism, socialism, fascism, PACIFISM, totalitarianism, anarchism, government enforced atheism, abortionism, feminism, HOMOSEXUALISM, racism, wacko environmentalism, judicial activism, etc."
At this stage, with the primaries still some 8 months away, I'd like to know where Donald Trump really stands on such key issue (notably those I capitalized above). At this juncture, the only potential candidate with a real chance to take the White House that bats it out of the park on all of those criteria is Sarah Palin.
I wonder how you felt about Reagan...
