Have Drivers Finally Thrown in Their Keys? Mass Transit Sees Uptick in Ridership

Gas prices are now the highest they have ever been during the month of April and at its fourteenth highest nominal price according to data from the Energy Department going back to 1990. The average gas price is $3.79 per gallon of regular, according to the Energy Department's weekly figures released today, an increase of 11 cents from last week and 93 cents from a year ago.

As the average price of gasoline edges closer to $4 a gallon -- with at least one gas station in Orlando at $5.59 a gallon, according to GasBuddy.com -- have drivers finally reached the point when they will switch to smaller cars or forego driving altogether?

Due to increased ridership of mass transit and falling state gasoline tax revenues we, the state of___________ are hereby requesting a tax increase of ___________ to make up for falling state revenues.

How many cars can a group of people use tow straps on?

Get one husky truck up front with a diesel and ten commuter cars all tied together with tow straps. Would work great on Interstates or rural back roads.

Or better yet each car has a super magnet in the front and the rear, as long as the polarity is an accepted direction the cars just draw themselves together like an automotive centipede.

Odumbo and his NON-energy policy are about to put us into another recession, and we're still not out of this one yet despite what his lemmings in the media tell us.

Take a look at Hussein's reaction to high energy prices:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EvS92OETHvg

After watching this, try to imagine Bush saying this in July '08 and what the media and the left's reaction would be.

Jan 20, 2013 can't come soon enough!

Hardly. I live 20 miles from any mass transit.

Mass transit is for people who don't want to die alone.

What Obama wants and what he ultimately gets, may come as a big surprise to him...

As Walter Williams says:

Politicians, news media people and leftists in general entertain what economists call a zero-elasticity view of the world. That's just fancy economic jargon for a view that government can impose a tax and people will behave after the tax just as they behaved before the tax, and the only change is more government revenue.

Exactly what Obamao wants.

Got that right. Just a matter of time before people start really whining and blaming so-called Big Oil, and then the chant will begin: "Government has to do something..." That will be the cue to Obamao and his fellow RATS to go after the oil companies and demonize the Republicans as the party of Big Oil.

Oh, a few Republicans will say that we need to drill more which will earn the standard shut up and sit down reply: "That won't do anything. It will take at least 10 years if you start now before you see any oil." The RATS been saying that since Bildo Klintoon was soiling the Oval Office and the Republicans have been slinking away just as long. Of course, we could have had a lot of 10 year to fruition drilling sites over that almost 20 year span that would have us awash in oil now, but why bring up inconvenient facts about the Stupid Party?

Yes, “intriguing” how just like unemployment numbers, deficit spending and presidential approval polls, the MSM is ignoring the skyrocketing gas prices—we all know they would be pummeling us daily with such stories if we had a Republican President.

I have a solution!

We buy railroad couplers and mount them to our cars and trucks.

Then all you need to do is couple up a commuters road train!

Dems purpose for getting the gas price up high explained right here. Higher gas prices means more people shifting to government controlled and taxpayer funded mass transit.

With the current crop of traitor commies running things, it’s just as simple as that.

I don't believe that is widespread...when the msm gets into supporting obama's follies, two people equals "everybody" to the msm.

Gas prices were over $4 three or four years ago for awhile and people - including me - kept on commuting.

This is an msm "build it and they will come" ploy.

This fellow Michigander remembers when gas was in the $4 range. Nancy Pelosi was on summer vacation and my congressman (Tim Walberg) was sleeping in his DC office and on the darkened house floor demanding that speaker Pelosi return and deal with energy policy.

Yes, of course this is not an option in large swarths of working (read ‘conservative’) America. Sure, the EBT card holders can leave their urban vehicles parked and the liberals in the burbs may be able to train in. What does that do for the ND Farmer or OH factory worker. Higher gas prices hurts the productive class most because by and large you require gasoline to get to work.

Took a drive to a nearby town this afternoon and saw a low of $4.04 and a high of $4.15. There were lots of $4.08-4.09. One gas station was $4.08 going and $4.12 a couple of hours later on the return trip. Wonder what it will be by Memorial Day.
