As a health care plan, Romneycare is an unmitigated fiasco. It has caused costs to skyrocket, insurance premiums to soar and nonprofit providers like Blue Cross to suffer hundreds of millions of dollars in losses.

But as a political policy, Romneycare is nearly unparalleled in Republican history.

“America continues to spiral toward oblivion.”

I respectfully disagree, if we distinguish between the nation, the people and the government. America and Americans have a vitality which will reassert itself in time. I do think the morally debauched, vapid, authoritarian welfare state which metastasizes from Washington D.C. is locked into self destruction.

As long as that continues progressives will continue to thrive in both parties and both parties will continue to destroy our country.
