I never thought of it that way but it is kind of interesting that they caught up with Timothy McVeigh right away.
No one is more skeptical of conspiracy theories than I am. McVeigh deserved the DP, however it’s interesting how his conviction and appeals process leading to his execution were put on the fast track. Also, where were all the DP opponents? Why didn’t Susan Sarandon blather about the barbarity of such a “cruel and unusual” punishment? Was she too busy writing love letters to Mumia Abu Jamal? The day of his execution, the LSM didn’t make a big deal of it, USA Today had a small article, and not even on the front page, with a picture of about 6-7 Quakers near the prison doing a rather lackluster rendition of Jesus carrying the Cross.
