Tina Fey may have been the darling of the left for her Emmy-winning impersonations of Sarah Palin on Saturday Night Live. But the comedic actress-director is now expressing regrets about her Palin pokes in her new book, Bossypants. As a matter of fact, Fey suspects that mimicking the former Alaska governor may have hurt the ratings of her NBC sitcom, 30 Rock. Some may argue that exploiting Governor Palin and her family helped bring attention to my low-rated TV show, Fey writes in an excerpt published in USA Today. I am proud to say you are wrong. My TV show still enjoys very low ratings. In fact, I think the Palin stuff may have hurt the TV show. Lets face it, between Alec Baldwin and me there is a certain fifty percent of the population who think we are pinko Commie monsters,

Next it will be Julianne Moore complaining that she is being blacklisted for portraying Palin in a new HBO film 'Game Change'.
Pity party for the lowlife trashy Tina?
After “The Office” and “Parks and Recreation” my TV is changed rapidly from NBC.
Yeah, that's is.....the fact that it was as funny as a funeral had nothing to do with it.
Tough toenails, I hope it did.
Mess with the best, die like the rest.
Parks and rec is the best show ever!
Are you still going to watch The Office after Carell leaves?
The show’s been going down for the last 2 seasons IMO. It could go either way with him leaving, although if I was to bet, I say it gets worse.
For a while there, it seemed like the entertainment industry was throwing every imaginable award at Fey and at 30Rock. It almost seemed like they were rewarding her for doing so much malicious damage to Sarah Palin. But the industry wouldn’t do that ... would they ...?
Heh. Consider this to be the modern-day version of our Hollywood Blacklist.
Don’t s*** where you eat, Tina.
Think you’re commie pinko monsters???
Pray for America
Born February 11, 1964 in Sandpoint, ID (Meets the Jus Soli Requirement)
Charles R Heath, born in ID
Sarah Sheeran, born in WI
Both parents were US Citizens at the time of her birth (Meets the Jus Sanguinis Requirement)
Sarah Palin is a NATURAL BORN CITIZEN unlike Comrade Barry Soetoro aka Barack Hussein Obama.
It seems to me it would be cancelled. No, a replacement can’t carry Michael’s water. I am glad Kathey Bates is gone myself.
I have to admit I actually DO like that show. I have no idea how it grew on me. It is like "The Office" but I can't stand "The Office." Weird.
How can Julianne Moore play the gorgeous Sarah? She has no nose! Sarah has a nice, strong nose - and Julianne Moore has no profile because she has no nose! This is the weirdest casting.
a certain fifty percent of the population who think we are pinko Commie monsters,
They ARE pinko commie monsters and if you do the crime you gotta do the time, Tina! I’m not sorry for your little career blip. Tina chose the wrong boat to hitch her oar to and now is complaining. Bye-Bye, Tina.
So a sitcom tanks...
Honestly, who gives a damn?
Get over yourself...
Fey’s been milking this
Sarah Palin thing for years.
A half-rate talent.
Andy is a trip. And Ron Swanson is the best character on TV IMO.
The Office WAS a great ensemble comedy - much like a new job; getting to know the personalities, the politics and getting comfortable.
Then - same as real-life office work - it’s become routine, repetitive and boring.
The flirting tension between Pam & Jim/Roy, Andy-Angela & Dwight, Michael & Jan, Phyllis & Bob etc., are fixed or faded.
Time to find another job;)
It almost seemed like they were rewarding her for doing so much malicious damage to Sarah Palin.
Yep. Vicious rodents that they are.
No no they wouldn’t. How about the fact that any Liberal who writes a book automatically gets a Grammy for the audio version. Did Sarah even get a nomination for hers? How about Beck or Levin or any conservative for theirs?
What goes around comes around.
At least she doesn’t seem to be in denial.
Fey goes on to write of her and her outspoken liberal costar Alec Baldwin that there is a certain 50 percent of the population who think we are pinko Commie monsters.Monsters? Please. Don't flatter yourself.
Pinko Commie Cockroaches, that's what you and Baldwin are.
You think? Ask the Dixie Chicks how things are going these days...
Finally figuring out that alienating 50% of the population is not good for business.
Never understood the mindset of celebs being partisan political hacks.
Will Ferrell pinch hitting for a month should be ok. But then I read where Carell might cameo on a few episodes next year, so that tells me that they know the show without him will be dung.
Kathy Bates was totally annoying. I HATE the Gabe character.
“Lets face it, between Alec Baldwin and me there is a certain fifty percent of the population who think we are pinko Commie monsters”
No, I think of both of you as something else, which would probably get me banned here. Let’s just say the word is 3/4’s the same as ‘Aunt’.
Least surprising is that her viewers and Obama voters didn’t know the difference between what Tina’s character said and what Sarah said. They are ignorant.
Fey is on a sitcom?
Great analysis - spot on.
The characters have become chatacteratures of themselves.
Yes, I know Baldwin is an America hating pinko, but at least in Fey’s defense, she “gets it”....
freedom is a wonderful thing.
I never knew who Tina Fey was until her SNL parody of Palin.
Tina Fey did her job and will eventually be handsomely rewarded...Ambassador to Jamaica in a Kucinich Administration or some such. The Democrat Party sent her on a mission and she succeeded beyond her wildest dreams. All shows on media fossil NBC are tanking...don’t feel singled-out Tina.
I will say however that the appearance of Alec Baldwin in anything is capable of driving audiences away in droves.
Well y'all are.
I, for one, like the trend here. It’s appropriate for entertainers to realize that, no matter which side they end up mocking, they are going to tick off a sizeable part of their audience.
It’s just nicer when sitcoms/singers/bands/etc. stick to non-political stuff.
Tina Fey = TRASH, TRASH, TRASH.
I’ve put her in the dumpster.
Hey Tina, if I look really hard, I can see your ratings from my house!
Take that back!
Yeah Ron! I was actually telling my friend the other day when we were talking about the show that Ron has to be the best character on TV at the moment.
I agree with the other poster that it is like the office but a million times better. I used to like the office at first but after like season 2 it just got old, I actually preferred the British version. In fact, Ive been loving british comedy these days.
In fact, I think the Palin stuff may have hurt the TV show. Lets face it, between Alec Baldwin and me there is a certain fifty percent of the population who think we are pinko Commie monsters,
Don’t be silly Tina, most people in America no longer think that communists like you are monsters. I mean, only right wing extremists think that just because communism has killed 100 million people its not worth another try.
Well, not actually, Tina. Most of us are pretty sure neither you or Alec has a clue about authentic political definitions or structures. We do know you do know a thing or two about absurdist comedy however, and on that basis, count me a fan of the show.
And I thought its ratings were actually really good, so good you could be forgiven for thinking it wasn't on NBC.
Ron Swanson has been Director of the Pawnee Parks and Recreation Department for six years. Ron, a libertarian, believes in the elimination of government waste and has always brought the department in under budget. Ron believes government should be privatized and the parks department follow the business model of the Chuck E. Cheese’s family entertainment chain. He has closed many unnecessary recreational spaces during his tenure, including the Portola Skate Park, the Grice Dog Run, the Morris-Easton Observatory, the Mohanga Native American Heritage Center, and most public drinking fountains. Ron has two ex-wives, both of whom are named Tammy, which is also the name of Ron’s mother. He is usually non-confrontational and gives Leslie a lot of leeway when running the department, both because he respects her greatly and because she loves to take on tasks he abhors, like holding meetings and planning future budgets. He jokingly keeps a claymore and a sawed off shotgun on his desk, so people who ask for things have to stare down the barrel. He enjoys woodworking, breakfast foods, and the works of Ayn Rand. Ron is an avid hunter and fisherman and secretly moonlights as a jazz saxophonist named “Duke Silver”. He also has a self described strong tolerance for alcoholic beverages and is a connoisseur of well-prepared steaks. Swanson’s love of meat has been a recurring gag in several episodes.
Ha ha! Tina, I can see your cancellation from my house.
Julianne Moore has no talent, not that anyone would notice.
I’m not so hot on P & R and I rather thought I’d like it. I despise The Office, which is simply creepy, as I see it. My favorite office oddity was “NewsRadio” actually. But then, I’ve basically sworn off network TV, especially FOX, except for sports, so maybe I’m not in the best position to criticize.
