Keith Olbermann is not known for his candor. In a sense, it‘s what’s made him a popular figure on the left. And sure, he makes off-the-wall comments sometimes in order to evoke a response. But he may have gone too far today when he suggested that conservative commentator S.E. Cupp is a prime example of why the world needs Planned Parenthood (PP). Translation, she should have never been born.
Immediately, the comment drew fire from those who said Olbermann, the former MSNBC host turned Current TV commentator, insinuated Cupp should have been aborted. And just as quickly, Olbermann started treading water.
Here’s how it went down.
Olbermann’s initial comment, via Twitter, was a response to a tweet from a follower who pointed out that on Joy Behar’s show last night, Cupp said she wasn’t a fan of supporting Planned Parenthood. That elicited this response:

I think you’ve been had by some tongue-in-cheek humor. When she was younger she was a classically trained ballet dancer. You mean she was a ballerina, changed to a man to write in a newspaper, and then changed back to a woman?
S.E. Cupp coming out as Matt Labash was a joke. The picture you posted is a photoshopped picture combining Matt Labash with SE Cupp. Do a google image search of Matt Labash to find out what he really looks like.

Mmmm...I am going for the ‘joke’ angle, which would work on me because I live on the left coast. During the same week I found myself reading a computer article written by an author who used their byline to explain that he/she was changing gender (the picture attached to the blurb showed that she had many challenges ‘passing’ for female), my co-worker went from using a name that was along the lines of ‘Bambi’ to her new male name that sounded something like ‘Blade’. We were all ‘getting’ the ‘Blade’ down ok but we kept slipping on the pronoun ‘her’. She was about 5’ 2” and I guess it could have helped me make the transition if she were 5’ 10”. Its been awhile and I still botch the pronoun. So when I came across the Daily Caller joke it went right over my head - I’d seen enough at work not to be surprised.
Looking at the ‘she was’ and she were’ I just wrote, I can see I still have a ways to go. It’s ‘he’ now. He was about 5’ 2”.
Wow! I see you have a challenge keeping up with the left coasters on a day to day basis. Although I am a 3rd generation Californian, I’m glad that I left that state in 1972! Too confusing!
BTW, I’m guessing that SE Cupp is at least 5’9”. Either that, or the men on Red Eye (which I never watch, except when I’m flippin channels) are really short. For the record, I think that SE is really lovely and really smart.
I’ve never seen SE standing next to Greta who seems to be really short, as is Gretchen.
I am afraid that you have just demonstrated that great truth “There’s a sucker born every minute”.
I’ve only seen a few photos - I don’t have TV service. I used to read that ballerinas had to be petite so you have me curious about the 5’ 9” or perhaps a positive change in ballerina height.
I think that Olbermann was the one who should have nevr been born.And shortrly after he departs this world, he will probably agree.

You are right, but they are growing them taller these days.
Her height is why I was surprised when she said she had been a ballerina. Actually, somebody else said it when they were discussing eating disorders, and they turned to SE as the expert because of her experience in the ballet. She did not claim to have an eating disorder, but she knew people who did. She seems tall to me. I could be wrong.
It is hard to tell the heights of many TV talking heads. They hide it by keeping them seated most of the time. O’Reilly is tall — about 6’7”. Advertises a tall man’s shop. Steve Doocy is tall. Peter Johnson is tall. Gretchen is a half pint — way too short to have been a Miss America. She must have been really something on the violin! :)
Greta is petite. I didn’t realize it until recently when she was interviewing someone “in the field”. She’s as short as Gretchen.
