“slavery” is not the slavery of the recent American experience.

No, the source of the standard is not collective society,
because that standard transcends societies and times.

It is internal, and changing society will not alleviate your violation of that standard (this is what the homos are trying to do, in vain).

It was in many cases. Seventh-year manumission only applied to Israelite slaves. And remember, if you beat your slave to death, make sure he lingers on in agony for a couple days before dying. You could be in trouble if you kill him quickly and painlessly.

Notice how much Christianity has changed over the years. The Bible hasn't changed, but the society has, so it interprets the Bible differently according to the changed standards. Even with the Bible in place, the society still sets the standards.
