Blizzard shuts I-80 in Nebraska, strands motorists 3:30pm EDT
OMAHA, Nebraska (Reuters) - A spring blizzard dumped up to 16 inches of snow in Nebraska, stranding dozens of motorists and forcing the closure of state's main highway, Interstate 80, for a 120 mile stretch, officials said on Friday.
Nebraska officials urged motorists to stay put on I-80, which was closed Thursday night and remained shut down Friday afternoon to allow authorities to clear stranded vehicles, mainly from a 12-mile construction zone.
The construction zone between Paxton and Ogallala, Nebraska, had many stranded semi-trailer trucks. A handful of accidents were reported, but no serious injuries, Nebraska State Patrol spokeswoman Deb Collins said.

The warmer it gets, the more snow & ice there is; the earth was at its hottest during the last ice age, and the next one is coming, unless we can cool the planet....
“Proof: the more ice you make in your fridge, the more heat there is dumped in the kitchen by the fridge. Therefore, making ice makes things warmer!”
Do I have that right, Al?
Global climat change is proven in many, many ways. Colder than normal winters, hotter then normal winters, 100 degree days in August, extreme amounts of snow. Sometimes its something as simple as a hailstone that looks like Richard Nixon that PROVES global climate change.
In fact, I’m willing to bet that the weather will change dramatically over the next 6 months.
Bush’s fault. But nothing that taxing the rich will not fix.
Someone on FOXNews the other day, was lamenting budget cuts in “climate control.” Climate control? lol
The weather has changed dramatically since He created our planet.
What I still wonder is how the heck they explain the ice age, the melting of the ice age, and the mini’s that have occurred since.......before SUV’s and evil oil??
It used to be that you took your chances on I-80. Now they have gates which close down at the first sign of trouble and send you off the exit into the nearest town. Trouble is that there are some sections of I-80 with no exits and some exits with no towns.
Great line! I predict that Necco wafers and peanut butter are the next things to blame. After all, both of these items have been found in places where the weather has either gotten warmer OR cooler!
I have a computer model and a consensus of 3 of my friends to prove it. If you can coerce the government (or show them how it is in their best interest) to give out large grants, I can find hundreds of guys to say Necco wafers and peanut butter will destroy our planet if it warms or cools or gets wet or dry or stays the same.
Tourists and weather systems; neither one of them slows down crossing Nebraska.
*Bushs fault. But nothing that taxing the rich will not fix.*
Dont forget to suppress free speech and tax everyone else. While your at it dont forget to brainwash the kids!
It’s the dull 40 formula of the Left
^40 year formula
As iced tea consumption increases, so does the temperature; it is a very clear and strong correlation, which proves causation.
As further evidence, I refer you to the following thread: Now its your electric ice maker in your fridge thats killing the planet,....
This storm extends north from Nebraska through central and northeastern South Dakota dumping 8-9” of new snow. We better hang on as some environmentalist whacko has already suggested that earthquakes are linked to global warming.
We did that stretch in reverse last August; being desert folk those gates made us decide we'd never take the drive in January. Some of those little Wyoming pitstops don't even have a gas station, let alone food or lodging.
We saw those while driving from CA to Wisconsin during our move last December. Wife and I decided we'd never try something like that again!
