Devastating e-mail exchanges between a senior official with the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives in Phoenix, AZ and a cooperating gun shop operator have been revealed by Senator Charles Grassley in a letter sent late yesterday to Attorney General Eric Holder.
In light of this new evidence, Grassley tells Holder, the Justice Departments claim that the ATF never knowingly sanctioned or allowed the sale of assault weapons to straw purchasers is simply not credible.
Grassley's press release can be viewed here.
CBS News' Sharyl Attkisson is reporting that the information contained in the e-mails is damning. The e-mail exchange is with David Voth, group supervisor for ATFs Phoenix Group VII. Voth is the agent who infamously sent an e-mail to other ATF agents, goading them into participating in the Gunrunner project without question, or to find a different job. This column discussed the Voth e-mail here.
I dont know what all the issues are but we are all adults, we are all professionals, and we have a (sic) exciting opportunity to use the biggest tool in our law enforcement tool box. If you dont think this is fun youre in the wrong line of work period! This is the pinnacle of domestic U.S. law enforcement techniques. After this the tool bag is empty. Maybe the Maricopa County Jail is hiring detention officers and you can get paid $30,000 (instead of $100,000) to serve lunch to inmates all day
We need to get over this bump in the road once and for all and get on with the mission at hand. This can be the most fun you have with ATF, the only one limiting the amount of fun we have is you!e-mail from David J. Voth, group supervisor, Phoenix Group VII

I hope Agent Brian Terry’s family knows about this fiasco.

It's good to see the younger set at ATF is digging into the backup archives and bringing these emails forward for public view.
Maybe we won't need to impeach so many of them now.
Time for Mr. Voth to start talking though. I doubt he wants to go to jail for Eric Holder!
I smell impeachment.
I doubt it. Grassley will probably just try to get Obama to sign a huge ethanol bill and make corn prices go higher.
It will be said that this guy was acting on his own without the knowledge of higher-ups, etc.
Regulating alcohol, tobacco and firearms are not enumerated powers granted to Congress in Article 1 Section 8 of the Constitution! Those powers reserved to the states or to the people per the 10th Amendment! The BATFE must be abolished!
Holder needs to be gone. NOW!
“I doubt it. Grassley will probably just try to get Obama to sign a huge ethanol bill and make corn prices go higher.”
My first thought.

There is blood in the water here. Eventually this will hit the fan.
An unambiguous threat that either you are fully on board, or your job at ATF is over.
The strong implication is that the push to make this happen is coming from a much higher level. How high must the firing of a government law enforcement officer go for approval?
Down the memory hole they will go. Nobody is allowed to question or challenge this administration. Boehnor will tear up and piss himself in fear of a confrontation and Lyndsey Graham will reach (around) across the aisle to his good friends and work with them to “keep America focused on what matters”.
Oh, and he's also an arrogant idiotic douchebag for pushing this insane assault on law-abiding gun-owning Americans.
Mrs. Prince of Space
I’m not holding my breath. This administration is teflon, abetted by MSM.
Ask 10 people on the streets and I’ll bet all 10 never heard of this scandal.
However, if it were on Bush’s watch, it’d be like Watergate.
IOW, the DOJ lied.
Holder could possibly decide to go after the ATF official...as long as he’s not one of “his (Holder’s) people”.
Somebody lied and agents died.
That fact is clear.
