The week-long observance of "Second Amendment Week" at Oregon State University culminates today with a drawing for an AR-15 rifle and accessories.
The annual observance is hosted by the College Republicans of OSU. The winner of the rifle will have to pass a background check, be at least 18 years old, have no felony convictions, be a legal resident of the State of Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or Nevada or must prove residency within 90 days.
The College Republicans will have a booth set up on the quad outside the Memorial Union, under a tent. Interested, eligible persons can stop by to put in their names for the rifle drawing.
Radio talk show host Lars Larson will broadcast Friday from the location, from noon until 6 p.m. The drawing for the rifle will be sometime between 5 and 6 p.m., according to David Del Moro, the president of the College Republicans.

I recently graduated from OSU. Imagine - someone with my ideology! And my instructors never blinked an eye.
Extremely accepting school, interested in critical thought and well developed commentary regardless of point-of-view. No indoctrination attempted. One teacher even appreciated my bumper sticker that said, “Caution: Dangerous Constitutionalist On-Board”; and another showed only mock indignation and didn’t grade me down for “accidentally” referring to the Hildabeast as Hitlery.
I can tell you another thing, I was not alone.... many of the students that I encountered shared my, or at least similar, freedom, patriotic, anti-idiot point-of-view.
Near the end of my time there, multiple professors nominated me for one of OSU’s top honors, and I can promise you I did not try and conceal my political views in any way. I suspect it has more to do with my ability to substantiate my point of view than some prof’s preferred political party.
I was concerned going in with all the rhetoric about liberal colleges, indoctrination, and pie-eyed liberal professors - but this was not the case. Far from it. I think allot of that kind of huey is projected by people who have not been near a college campus in years, but have their opinion, and they damn well are going to share it regardless of how much it is, or isn’t supported in fact.
Glad to hear it.
Is OSU the Ducks or the Beavers?
Never mind... Beavers.
My niece and nephew are at UO (Ducks)
Darn!
