This afternoon, Marilyn Davenport sent an email to fellow Orange County Republican elected officials, apologized if anyone was offended and blasted the "liberal media" for reporting the story.
"I simply found it amusing regarding the character of [President Barack] Obama and all the questions surrounding his origin of birth," Davenport wrote. "In no way did I even consider the fact he's half black when I sent out the email. In fact, the thought never entered my mind until one or two other people [Scott Baugh, Orange County GOP boss and Moxley] tried to make this about race . . . I received plenty of emails about George Bush that I didn't particularly like yet there was no 'cry' in the media about them . . . That being said, I will NOT resign my central committee position over this matter that the average person knows and agrees is much to do about nothing."

The problem is that this woman was probably too naive to realize that any black person who sees a monkey immediately thinks the monkey refers to black people ... although there is absolutely no reason to think this. Maybe it’s in the eye of the beholder, and if you’re race-obssessed, you see racism everywhere.
Apparently, we are no longer allowed to depict monkeys in any context (I read that even Curious George was now considered racist). When I saw this picture, I thought they were suggesting that Obama was the “Missing Link” because he claims to come from African parentage but nobody knows anything about him.

I got the exact same email - circulating amongst those that oppose Obama. But it was just plain STUPID of an Official member of O.C.’s Republican Party to send it on. What are these folks thinking??!! They have to know someone will send it on to the press & we’ll all end up looking like racists, regardless of all the Chimpy McBush-Hitler cr*p that went around a few years ago.
