A member of the Tea Party has sent a racist email with a picture of Barack Obama and his parents as chimpanzees, it has been revealed.
The email sent by Marilyn Davenport, a Southern California Tea Party activist and member of the central committee of the Orange County Republican Party, was titled: 'Now you know why - no birth certificate.'
The attached picture showed a mocked-up photo of the President as a baby chimpanzee being held by his so-called parents - also chimps in human clothing.

Antics like this could cost the GOP the chimpanzee vote.
There’s nothing wrong with it other than being an insult to chimps!
“This kind of stuff could cost the Republicans the black vote.”
You’re right, but that one vote probably won’t matter.
hysterical!! Just about every U S President has had caricatures done. This one is mild, this is the same species they used on George Bush II, I’ve seen a lot worse!
For the record, Abe Lincoln was often referred to as “The Great Ape” ...because of his appearance..
Now that is droll.
I have no sympathy for a Democrat so taxonomically catagorized.
Playing the race card is so yesterday. Several emails were circulated portraying President Bush as a Chimp and much worse. Where was the indignation then? The double standard is also old.
This kind of stuff could cost the Republicans the black vote
Well, meybe some, but not the thinking ones is my guess, and the other ones would vote Dem. anyway
“This kind of stuff could cost the Republicans the black vote.”
That is by far the funniest thing I’ve read all week
News Flash: Obama birth certificate located, at a PET STORE IN HAWAII! lol
Since most liberals believe we all come from monkeys anyhow, why is this offensive?
Why?

Or are you one who thinks it's okay that the opposition retains the right to decide what is appropriate in any given circumstance. Can you name any caricaturization of a black individual that would NOT be considered "racist"? The lib's mainstreamed the chimp imagery in connection with GWB. Now it should be off limits?
We need to stop defending stuff that should not be defended just because it was done by another conservative.
I'd say you need to stop attacking stuff that should not be attacked just because it was done by another conservative.
Maybe this is more to your liking:
Do you mean that part of the 5% who didn’t vote for Obama will be lost to the Republicans now?
Really; Obama’s mother was white, anyway. Is it racist to call her a chimp?
“Are there a few nut jobs”?
Well as you say, you’ve been to 5 and I’ve been to three so the answer is obviously YES.
The opposition is not my moral compass nor is the home team. A person would have to be totally oblivious to cultural history not to know the arguments hard core racists used to justify first enslaving blacks and secondly to enshrine inequality into law.
Like it or not a big part of that argument was based on the “scientific” idea that blacks had not evolved as completely as whites and were therefore closer to other primates such as chimpanzees than they were to white “humans.”
So yes it was idiotic even when done without malice. To not get that is to play right into the hands of those who do idolize Obama and who hate those who don’t.
So save your criticizing stupid behavior by a conservative equals worhiping Obama for some ignorant hick who can be intimidated by personal slurs.
Is this newspaper suggesting that some races are closer to chimps than others?
I've scoured the internet and I can find no connection anywhere of this woman with the tea party.
Yet her main description is as a “tea party activist.”
BS, just a way to discredit the tea party movement.
I agree, she is an idiot because this plays right into the Dems laps, they love this stuff. They can now say “Aha! See! They ARE racist!” which further brainwashes blacks into believing the big lie, which is that Repubs are the racists.
I tell you, what ticks me off is the history of the Repub party is rarely ever mentioned nor promoted. Forget schools, the libs have commandeered that, but during elections wouldn’t it be nice to see an ad once that gives a short history of the Republican party?
I live in NYC and I can’t tell you how many blacks I meet have absolutely no idea that Abraham Lincoln was a Republican, they don’t believe it! They also think Republicans were 100% against Civil rights! It’s time to stop this BS.
