"If Trump is a man he’ll step up to the plate and be honest, and run as a democrat."

Why would a guy who wants to pay fewer taxes and shrink the size of the federal government, run as a democrat?

You are fooled by the Republican establishment who do it all the time to you. You keep the same-old same-old and nothing will change. While Trump is hitting hard and doing the right things I will praise him, but if he goes lib on me I won’t hesitates to hammer him. Trump does have a credibility problem with his past, it will be up to Trump to fix it, which will take much time and much effort. He has to be sincere in his convictions that he is now a conservative or it won’t sell to the conservative base. It won’t be easy but I’m keeping an open mind.

I’ve said more than once in the last 2 to 3 weeks, I want to see this process of debate played out all year long and into the primaries next year. No one has my vote just yet. The contenders are as of now Palin, Bachmann, and Trump, and I’m not sure Palin is running. The rest are far behind the pack.

Yep. Said if he didn’t win the GOP nod, he’d run if he thought he could win as an independent. IOW, fall in line GOP and support me or you will get another Perot.

Trump gives money to Democrat Charles Schumer of New York. He is free to do so but I am free to ignore Trump the blowhard and Schumer suck up. You want Schumer having more power? Trump does not want to live the life of a president. Restricted, closed and loss of freedoms. That is not what Trump wants at all. He will not run. There is another reason he is out and going through the silly motions. We will find out soon.

There is no need to describe Trump in such harsh terms. The fact is, however, that the TEA Party movement needs to continue to keep its focus on the Constitution's underlying principles. That, alone, provides a clear trumpet. A Pied Piper whose political support has gone to the very people who have led us away from those principles will not likely lead America into a new era of Constitutional fidelity.

The Tea Party movement's appeal has been its focus on the wisdom of America's Constitutional limits on coercive government power and its plea for a return to constitutional government by "We, the People."

Donald Trump's focus seems to be on his own "wisdom" and the coercive power he could wield as President. He is not appealing to American citizens to take away power from their elected representatives. Rather, he is wanting American voters to trade the Obama brand for the Trump brand.

In all his interviews, he says not one word about the magnificence of the United States Constitution's provisions for self-government by "We, the People." He only speaks of his deal-making abilities and power plays, and how that qualifies him to gain advantage over other nations.

America needs a leader who understands and is devoted to the principles outlined in the Declaration of Independence and structured into the Constitution's protections for individual liberty, as well as its limitations on government power in all of its branches. Such a leader is needed in order to rekindle the light of liberty.

Trump is a distraction from the principles the Founders held dear. When he begins taking the attention off himself and on to those principles, then he can be taken seriously.

Just as TEA Partiers urged voters in 2008 to look closely at the voting record and associations of Obama in order to determine where his allegiances were, so now do we need to look closely at the record of support and close associations of all those we consider for 2012 leadership.

I don’t know that I would say that so much as that when it comes to his conservatism, as the Rush lyrics go, I have no heart to lie, I can’t pretend a stranger is a long-awaited friend.

There is nothing stealthy about Trump.

He is an ass, and he is playing the fools for what he can get out of it/them.

You’d have to be a moron to buy this guys goods.

No need to prove you right or wrong. How many people out there, aside from Obama, have actually announced they are candidates? Romney? Bachman? The whole idea is to get a number of candidates out there and then whittle 'em down. Of course, the Republican Party isn't so good at whittling. McCain... Bob Dole... they have a tendency of find people who are in the Party for a long time and giving it to them because it was 'their turn'. And the party and voters actually listen to the Press as to who the best candidate is. Of course, the Press is telling us the best candidate for the Dems to be running against... again, Dole, McCain... perhaps Trump.

On the good side, Trump is talking about things the professional politicians won't even bring up... spending, birther, Rezko, etc. So let him talk. It still works in our favor.

I’m sure I have too. I once bought a used car that had been damaged in a flood and fixed up by the dealer to cover it up. I lost a lot of money.

Nobody’s foolproof. But I tell you one thing—I’ll never buy a flood damaged vehicle again. And I won’t be distracted by Donald Trump.

What side is Krauthammer on? I wouldn’t exactly call him a liberal by any means. He does come across like the Bill Kristol type or a phony conservative / neo-con.

Here we go again, another 2008 in the making.......

The pattern is the same. This forum picks it’s candidate and then systematically destroys all other possibilities.

To support Harry Reid is unpatriotic.

Weak. What did he give Dusty Harry a few pennies? What ever it was, it was a few pennies to Trump.

First thread of the day I see. Couldn't agree with you more. I draw the line at supporting any liberal. Especially a liberal Republican. Especially a creep like Donald Trump.

Dump Trump.

IF he has a substantial following, wouldn’t he be stupid not to run, in so much as he would be getting millions upon millions of soft campaign money coming in.

He stands to raise more money in campaign money than he could otherwise. I think he’s more surprised than anyone that he’s getting all the attention he is.

I will take him seriously, and in fact I might actually support him IF AND ONLY IF, he says the following:

“I’M A REPUBLICAN, RUNNING FOR THE NOMINATION OF MY PARTY. IF I LOSE, I WILL SUPPORT THE CANDIDATE OF MY PARTY CHOSEN BY MY FELLOW REPUBLICANS, WITH ALL MY ENERGY AND RESOURCES. BECAUSE I DO NOT WISH TO SEE FOUR MORE YEARS OF OBAMA, I WILL NOT RUN AS A THIRD PARTY.” Donald Trump

Trump Threatens a Third Party Run

The Wall Street Journal reports that Donald Trump is considering a third party run if he doesn’t win the Republican nomination:

Donald Trump will “probably” run as an independent candidate for U.S. President in 2012 if he does not receive the Republican party’s nomination, he told the Wall Street Journal in a video interview on Monday.

“I am very conservative,” said Mr. Trump. “The concern is if I don’t win [the GOP primary] will I run as an independent, and I think the answer is probably yes.” Mr. Trump said he thought he “could possibly win as an independent,” adding, “I’m not doing it for any other reason. I like winning.”

I rather suspect he is just being a publicity hound stirring up controversy. He can’t be so stupid as to think he could win such a contest. He would virtually guarantee a second term from Barack Obama.

Or maybe he is hoping to extort something out of the Republicans? “That’s a great looking 2012 campaign you’ve got there. I would hate to see something happen to it.”

Or he could be like a number of rich people in the past. He’s got boo-coos of cash? What to spend it on. “I know! Let’s run for President as a third party. I will really get in the history books then. Think of all the attention I would get.”

Sort of, but not really.

At this point, Trump has shown himself to be the political equivalent of Barack Obama.

The only difference is Trump is a better liar.

Name me any other Republican candidate who hasn't been cowed by the MSM into, not only over looking Obama’s sketchy past but, telling us there's nothing to see just move along?
