Two British friends shot dead on a crime-ridden American housing estate were ambushed and murdered, possibly as part of a gang initiation.
James Cooper, 25, and James Kouzaris, 24, were in Florida when they were killed at 3am in a gangland area rarely visited by tourists.
They apparently accepted a lift from someone they met in a bar, thinking they were being driven home.
A 16 year-old, named locally as Shawn Tyson, was charged with their murder. It emerged yesterday that he was freed by a judge last week despite being arrested over an armed robbery.
The bodies of Mr Cooper, a tennis coach who once played Andy Murray, and Mr Kouzaris were found riddled with bullets on a one-way street in the estate, known for drug dealing and gang activity.

They mention in the story he could get the death penalty. FL has the penalty, but thanx to the USSCourt under 18 can’t be executed. That’s sad. This piece of slime looks to be a prime contender for such.

Makes it sound like something out of a Jane Austen story;) When they realized they were being kidnapped, why didn’t they just break the driver’s neck and push him out of the car? (only works in the movies, I guess. Then again, no one’s ever tried to kidnap me;)

Silly FReeper! They probably tried, but by the time they realized they were in an American car, and that they were assaulting the front passenger rather than the driver, it was too late.
I have to wonder about the Telegraph's mind reading abilities, that they know the victims "accepted a lift from someone they met in a bar, thinking they were being driven home." Or, did they get that info during a seance? It is just as likely that they were trying to score some drugs, something not at all unheard of in Britain.
In any case, give the little punk a nice dose at state expense, please.

Each nation chooses the euphemism most in accord with its culture. the Brits prefer the image of stately buildings and grounds tended lovingly for centuries, the Americans the image of boosting the economic machine. Neither accords to the reality
