'Doctor Who star Elisabeth Sladen, who was also in spin-off series The Sarah Jane Adventures, has died aged 63.

Sladen appeared as Doctor Who assistant Sarah Jane Smith in the BBC television sci-fi series between 1973 and 1976 opposite Jon Pertwee and Tom Baker.

In more recent times the Liverpool-born actress went on to appear in four series of The Sarah Jane Adventures on children's channel CBBC.

BBC entertainment reporter Lizo Mzimba said she had had cancer for some time.'

And we just lost the Brigadier recently, too.

Awww rats, she will be missed.

I hope someone adopts K-9, I'd hate to see him end up at the pound.

I like Monty Python, The Benny Hill Show, Dr Who (Chris and David), and Peep Show. I saw a couple of episodes of Fawlty Towers.. It was ok..

I never watched the Old Doctor Who but have throughly enjoyed the new episodes that began in 2005.

The newest guy (Matt Smith) playing “The Doctor” is a hoot.

The new season begins this Saturday with a line of stories set (and filmed) in America.

Give it a shot as the new showrunner (Stephen Moffet) is a sharp and clever writer.

Here's a very good 3 and 1/2 minute video that can tell you almost all you need to know. It's scenes from the upcoming season with quick comments from the actors and the writer/producer.

The original K-9 is with Romana (II) Leela Ward in E-Space. Ward and Baker were married for a while.

We don’t have cable and have to wait for it to come out on Netflix. I absolutely LOVE Dr. Who! I hate waiting.

I’m sorry she’s gone and so young still! Darn cancer. Takes so many good people.

More than one last time. Three episodes of Dr Who.

And since 2007 she has been playing the character on The Sarah Jane Adventures for 5 seasons, defending Ealing from alien invasion (and the unstable black hole in her attic).

Elisabeth Sladen was working until the end.

I’ve never seen any old ones but I saw her in couple Tennant episodes. Wouldn’t have guess she was over 60.

RIP.

Sad, she was my favourite of the classic series companions by far, and clearly a contender for best ever companion in my book. When The Doctor pushed her out the door so abruptly it shocked me, and then wind up leaving her someplace other then Croydon was funny and worrying too (what if it wasn’t even Earth?)

I hated what RTD did with her, she was never some love sick girl hoping for the Doctor to notice her. Totally wrong, and I wish The Moff had a chance to treat her right. I would have had the Doctor throw that whole ‘and boy I hate that sonic screwdriver rant’ back in her face when she complained about being shown the door.

I hope she gets a proper send off, put something in an episode or a dedication or something.

The early years are wonderful simply because of how horrible they were. Bad sets, bad “special” effects, and some(not all) horrible stories. It was definitely a character driven show back then, and she was one of the best of them.

I saw that on FB yesterday, how sad! I never knew she had cancer, sounds like she had to deal with it for awhile. My tweenie loved her “Sarah Jane Adventures” and I remember her from DW when I was younger, as well as some of her stuff on the current series. :*( Condolences to her family and friends on their loss!

I am deeply saddened. Sarah Jane has to be on everyone’s list as one of the top, if not the top, companion for the Doctor throughout the whole run of the show.
