President Obama plans to bring his family to the launch of the space shuttle Endeavour on April 29 to see Rep. Gabrielle Giffords's husband lead six astronauts into space.
Giffords wrote on Twitter: "We are very happy that Pres. Obama is coming to Mark's launch! This historic mission will be Endeavour's final flight."
The Orlando Sentinel reports that Obama decided to attend for a few reasons, one of which was that he was going to be in the state already to speak at Miami Dade College's

No royal wedding invite.........
He wants to be treated like royalty on the Cape.
I doubt he is revered there.
The Vacationer-In-Chief takes a little time off from his campaigning and fundraising. Maybe he can work in a round of golf while he’s there in Florida.
He’s gonna watch a complete crew of intellectual and moral superiors fly far, far above his sorry little butt.
Erkel Mugabe wishing the crew luck ?
Hope they’re affairs are in order...prayers for em with onus on their turf.
BHO has f’d up everything he’s got near so far....maybe they will get a weather delay an his kitchen pass expires an Moochell wants to go eat dinner in Paducah.
Well slap my bacon. Hell be flying right over the tornado devastated area that he just said he had no plans to visit.
Like his famous Manhattan flyover, maybe he could wave at the little people as he attends another campaign photo op?
Ya think he might find some time between now and the 29th to offer some words of encouragement and consolation for the victims of the recent weather disasters?
Political theater. Giffords is a prop for this president once again.
I have no doubt that he will find time for the links. After all, everything in this country is just humming along like a finely tuned watch, and all.
Photo op, that’s all. Such arrogance. We all dislike him now, more than ever.
Why, those were mostly Red states. The Dear Reader wants to watch the end of the space program first hand, and wish the astronauts well on their new mission of mooslim outreach.
This makes it sound as if Giffords herself is tweeting. Huh?
Well, darn!! We are going too and NO!!!, he won’t be revered.
He’ll just be in the way.
From the web site golftravel.com....
“The beaches are gorgeous, the Kennedy Space Center is unique, and the local golf courses compare favorably with any in Florida.”
So whaddaya think?
His own launch.
For once in my life I am hoping for a launch delay, the kind where they put it off multiple times, like an hour each time. Then, after they keep His Majesty waiting for hours, they put it off to another day.
I saw the shuttle go up once, it was awesome. After what he’s done to this country, Obama doesn’t deserve to have that experience.
Knowing him, he will find a way to bring the Arizona shooting into his photo-op, and blame Sarah Palin again.
It’s an open secret that politicians regularly attend the funerals of total strangers.
I hate to say this but I hope his sports curse doesn’t transfer to NASA.
The 0bama curse was the first thing that popped into my mind. With him announcing he’ll be there we can now be assured there’ll be a problem. Hopefully just a delay or a weather issue and not a catastrophic event.
Obama finds himself presiding over the end of a lot of things in the great country.
The Emperor applauding the end of American leadership in space.
It’s extremely difficult to get tickets for this event. They trade over the internet for a price approaching $1000. I wonder how many Obama’s entourage consumed.
Stay Safe !
sure does and I don’t buy it.
Expect speechifying on civility and name calling. Then he will go back to being uncivil and calling opponents names.
The last flight...Thank you Pres. Obama.
I’m afraid so....The Giffords are now roman pillars in the campaign. Screw the family of the 9 year old girl andf the others who DIED!!!!!
This is chilling news-Obama at the launch. Everything he has turned his attention to for the past 2 years has been a disaster or blown sky high. He is a Jonah and may jinx the launch or rest of the mission. If I was on this crew, I’d develop a bad ear infection soon to get off the roster. I hope I’m wrong as I love the space program and the heroes involved in all aspects of it.
He’s hoping it will crash. I am not kidding you. He wanted to be there when the Challenger blew up. It’s like Clinton being upset 9/11 happened on Bush’s watch. F’ing vulture.
Sorry I teased you the other day about posting from Politico44...I like you.
My first thoughts were along the same lines. If I were Giffords, I wouldn’t be happy about this.
I haven’t been following Gifford’s progress. Has she been seen in public yet?
Give him a seat under the thrusters
Hehehe ;) tease away if you wish! I some days wonder why I do post from that place. It is sooooo in the tank for him.
You know some of the people at NASA have had similar thoughts about "new VIP seating".
SUCH UTTER ARROGANCE!
The man child goes to a venue in which he created the layoff of over 5000 jobs either last week or the week before and decides to show up just to rub it in.
That’s what I was thinking. She has recovered enough to go on twitter?
Like Obama’s Birth Certificate, I need to see it to believe it.
Someone should tell Obama about how far a golf ball can travel on the moon.
Someone should tell Obama to go to the moon and stay there!
He would just express concern that we need to land our Moon probes further apart, so we don’t tip the Moon over on its axis ...
Send him to the moon to bat a golf ball around for a while. Then, when he radios home to get a ride back to Earth we reply: “Sorry dude, remember you cancelled the space program”
This event will be what those of us who have served in the military call a Charlie Foxtrot...
I thought Gifford’s husband flew the last mission?
Hey NASA guys. PSSST listen up.
Launch problems. Get down to 10 seconds and abort the takeoff. Put it off and put it off. OMG so many problems. Keep on delaying until the muslim dictator gets frustrated and leaves.
Then launch. at night.
Don’t let the muslim make this into a propaganda event.
He has to pick up where he left off — milking the Giffords tragedy.
I just saw the butthat taking his victory tour of Nasa.
