He’s probably already called Wash D.C asking when the NEXT round of American taxpayer money will be transferred into the Haitian bank account.
In all seriousness, I've read that the aid donated to them would be enough to give each Haitian a check for about $8,000, but the NGO/Aid organizations have enough sense not to do this. There isn't anyone to hire to build a house since almost no one really has any acceptable skill level in construction.
Even if a person did have the gumption to go out and rebuild "their" house (because the land title situation is chaos at best), they wouldn't have anywhere to buy basic construction materials. They were always hard to come by, and when the earthquake flattened the warehouses/"stores", no one seemed to see an advatage to rebuilding them either.
And so, the money sits, slowly being doled out in the form of bottled water, prepared food, first aid and the occasional shipment of used clothing.
Pitiful.
I guess Jesse Ventura was busy.
