COSTCO has admitted to several Islamic groups that their lamb is sacrificed according to Islamic Standards and is fully certified as HALAL meat, something that Christians in the world and Jews in the world need to be aware of.

IMO, it’s wrong that they’re selling Halal meats without the appropriate label. While we no longer have our membership to COSTCO, it makes me wonder about our local grocery store and whether their meats are Halal minus the label, too.
I have a plan.
Go to Costco.
Get all the bacon you can. Maybe some good ham too.
Put it ON TOP of the halal stuff.

I think St. Paul had something to say about this since in his day in some towns the meat that was available was all sacrificed to the pagan gods.
Some of their pork in the meat section ins't wrapped too tight. Sometimes the pork blood seeps out. And sometimes that blood gets all over the place.
I don’t have a problem with Campbell’s Soup being Halal as long as it is prominently marked. I don’t think there is anything wrong with a manufacturer trying to appeal particular ethnic groups. It is the nature of product marketing to create variants for identifiable segments of the population.

My wife loved COSTCO, but a year or so ago when we got their magazine that had a big spread of Al Gore on the cover, she cancelled our membership.
Thank you for this information. A few days ago my wife bought a $33 lamb roast from our local Costco. She was going to cook it tonight. I told her about this post. When she checked the roast, sure enough it had arabic writing on it, indicating halal. She just took it back, got a refund and told the manager why she was returning it. No halal in this house.

I, as a Christian am instructed to avoid meat sacrificed to idols (like the black rock in mecca) in Acts 15.
The reason, as so aptly explained by Paul had nothing to do with the stupid rock or the demon muslims worship, but to avoid giving credibility to a false religion.

I tried calling Costco at the number you listed and got put in a loop that kept returning me to the same recorded message. I finally asked to be sent to a department link and found out that their offices are closed today for the holiday. I will make sure to ask them what holiday they were closed for when I call their offices on Monday!

No problem, RB. Paul affirmed the apostle’s Holy Spirit-given decision to allow Christians to eat whatever is healthful. His warning against eating meat offered to idols was specifically to prevent people from being scandalized into thinking we were participating in that sacrifice. Cultrurally insenstive to Christians? Yes. Idolatry for Christians? No.

Believe me, I won’t. What I’ve heard and read so upset me, I don’t think my psyche could stand it, and I pray it will never happen here. This is so silly. Jews will often eat Halal and Muslims kosher as their requirements are very similar. That and “Allah” just means God in Arabic.
I’ve eaten more than my fair share of halal meats during my two deployments and I haven’t grown horns yet.

As I understand it, Kosher meat is Halal, though not approved by the correct authority. In the early days of Gitmo, we served prisoners Kosher MREs, with no complaints. Now we have Kosher and Halal MREs.

Oh please. I do stand corrected on Jews eating Halal. That statement came from a Jewish friend years ago who I guess didn’t keep strict kosher. But Muslims will eat Kosher and the manner of slaughter is similar.

Muslims will eat kosher because they know its MORE RIGOUROUSLY ENFORCED than halal.
But they are not similar; Islamic slaughter (halal) is basically BEHEADING.
Halal have virtually no rules on the sharpness of the blade nor any religious (COMPASSION) nor economic incentive to make it as painless for the animal as is required in kosher slaughter.
In Kosher, if the animal is is not slaughtered properly / the blade is found to be not sharp enough to produce painless FAST loss of blood and consciousness, the carcass is rejected (not kosher) for sale to religious Jews.
A few of these and the “shochet” (slaughterer) is fired.

I’ve googled a whole bunch of websites on this and from my research the manner of slaughter is more similar than it is different.
Sure, it’s not the same, but knife across the throat, don’t get the spinal column sums it up. Yes, you’re right there are differences, but the manner of slaughter IS similar. Not the same, but similar as I said.
Race’s assertions that Halal and Kosher are “are not even close” is not borne by the facts of even the most rudimentary research.
