>>>Just for fun, what would you do?

Buy a modest house in a temperate climate where there’s no state income taxes and invest the bulk of the proceeds in bonds that are free of federal taxes, take that income and live modestly .

I think I’d buy me a chunk of land on the Keweenaw peninsula in Northern Michigan and never bee seen again.

In Countryside Home I saw an ad for a furnace that you could put in that fireplace that would keep your house warm, heat your water and have a beautiful fire to enjoy.

Cash value reduces it by 40%, then all the Federal and State taxes (millionaire tax if in CA or NY), so yes, the Government wins, and another 300 lb. slug in the Social Services Dept. gets another fat pension check.

See how it works?

The non-producers have tilted the table to feed themselves by taxes, fees and licenses.

They produce nothing and get a bloated, lifetime cashflow from someone who rises early, stresses all day and then works late to make ends meet.

We are in the USSR, we just haven’t changes the name yet.

Ha! Ha! When I saw those two I immediately thought of Deliverance- especially when the little guy mentioned he wanted to get married, I was just waiting for him to say, "I'm looking for somebody with a purty mouth"

Just for fun, what would you do?

I got some friends going thru some hard times as well as a girlfriend who's struggling but not complaining. I'd make their dreams come true then find a nice small church that could use some help.

After that, I'd buy a new car, pay off my house and all my debt then just keep on doing what I'm doing.........In my spare time I'd keep an eye out for folks who are really in need.

We also attend the annual log home show up in Atlanta, and have had a good bit of time to narrow down the model and builder to a select few over the last few years. It's a lot different than just going to a Realtor or a builder and saying 'I want that one'. You really have to educate yourself about every facet of log home design and construction if you're serious about building one. I daresay I could almost teach a seminar on Log Homes 101. Hell, I may get my license and do it on the side, if I get the proper motivation.

"But know this, that in the last days perilous times will come: for men will be lovers of themselves, lovers of money, boasters, proud, blasphemers, disobedient to parents, unthankful, unholy, unloving, unforgiving, slanderers, without self-control, brutal, despisers of good, traitors, headstrong, haughty, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God, having a form of godliness but denying its power. And from such people turn away, for his name is Obama."

To be honest, if I won that jackpot, that’s exactly what I’d say. Then I’d spend the next few years...um...interviewing....prospective brides.

Just for fun, what would you do?

I would buy my friend humblegunner a brain at a fish market in Little Chinatown and hire the best Veterinarian I could find to install it.

After all, I am a kind and benevolent person.

I have some kin and friends who need debt elimination and a retirement egg.

I’d take care of the Ex with a little chunk.

Get a country house with enough acreage and fence it off against coyotes/predators for my own critters.

Find a significant other and maybe even get married.

I might become very popular all of a sudden. Separating the
fakes from the reals would be a task.

Another log home floor plan we're looking at has a walkaround fireplace separating the great room from the dining room, and it's open on both sides. A third one has the fireplace open to both the living room and the porch outside, so you can sit out there on cold, rainy, snowy days and be nice and warm. The beauty of some of these builders' plans are that the company will modify the plan you choose with your personal preferences (within reason), and some will even do it for free once you sign a contract and put at least a down payment on the shell package. Another thing we're adamant about is that the plans be slightly tweaked to allow for Jacuzzi tubs in both the master and guest bathrooms. My wife has bad knees, my mother has a bad back and hip, and I'm just getting generally rusty and creaky around the edges now, myself. LOL!

“Just for fun, what would you do?”

Give ten percent of gross to my church; set up a charitable trust to generate income for my favorite charities; give some to family members; buy a house on the lake; buy a 2011 Porsche Cayenne Turbo for my wife; buy a 2011 Supersnake and a 2011 Ford F-150 Raptor for myself.

Would be in USVI within 48 hours with a hill top bungalow overlooking the Caribbean. A 100’ crank up tower with appropriate aluminum for global communications.

That would suffice...
