He obviously didn't have a working heart long before this to do what he did. Let him die slowly.

Unbelievable. I thought a sentence of 18-40 years means if you die during that time, tough luck. How could spending 3/4 of a million dollars of upstate tax money on this worthless POS possibly be in the public interest?

Let him die slowly.

As an alternative, we could do the transplant but kind of forget the anesthesia. Let's if he's such a tough guy after all.

I can understand that it would be considered cruel and unusual punishment to deny an inmate basic medical treatment.

However, a heart transplant (especially when there are many more needy candidates, who aren’t child rapists, being passed over) is ridiculous.

I am loath to press for new laws in general. But I’m seeing more and more of this type of thing and if transplant committees won’t use common sense, it probably needs to be addressed by legislation.

Child rapist should be hung, not given a million dollar heart paid for by the population.

Agreed completely.

Of course the problem is, who gets to determine "worthiness" or "neediness"? Some government bureaucrat? I'm not comfortable with that either.

Here's a thought: When we incarcerate somebody long-term, they are entitled to the same medical treatment(s) that they would have had available to them on the outside -- given their means and circumstances. Some perp who's net worth is under $100K? Fix up a broken arm, sure. But no million-dollar fancy stuff for him, just because we put him in prison.

I realize that sort of criteria would never fly... Somebody would complain that it's racist or classist or something...

Oops. Should be “whose” not “who’s”. Sentence started out differently, and missed an edit....

Mrsawoodpd13 & I live in a Red State with Red Legislature & Red Governor, far from this...Mrsawoodpd13 is a Probation Officer, however, and has a former Probationer who had a new Liver installed, courtesy of the tax-payers, during an earlier prison sentence...he had fried his factory-installed liver via IV drugs and alcohol...he has since returned to prison...

This is one reason I have now taken myself off of the donor check off on my drivers license. I’m tired of being fed this pc human rights crap when people who are not human demand that I now give them my body parts.

He is a “sex positive” rodent just like your average NY leftist. They rape women over 18 and he rapes them under.

Therefore, the vermin of NY are positively delighted to help out one of their own.

Aren't all NY State taxpayers on the hook? Why not give him a compassionate parole, if NY has it?
