In Boston, all politics is ’Loco
Boston Globe ^ | April 23, 2011 | Michael Levenson

A simple city event wound up pitting mayoral pique against a burrito maker’s overheated tweet It seemed like a feel-good idea: Boloco, the hip burrito chain, would provide free burritos to the first 200 people who showed up wearing a bike helmet at Mayor Thomas M. Menino’s unveiling of the city’s new bike-sharing program. Boloco would enjoy some goodwill from the public. The city would get attention for its program. And the rest of us? We might get a free lunch. But what ensued was nothing less than a burrito brouhaha involving hot tempers, a Twitter tirade, and a tense phone call between the mayor and John S. Pepper, Boloco’s chief executive and Boston’s best-known burrito magnate. As with so many City Hall spats, this one involved complaints about red tape and rudeness.

Again we have the 300 lb fathead of a mayor losing it over someone calling him on being an ungrateful thug.

Guess the next time the city insists on a permit for a company donating product, the response will be a big, fat, F-U.

All things from Massachusetts are corrupt, or simply stupid with malicious intent.

I caught this post because of the twit or tweet thing.

What an unnavigable buss load that place that is. Good place to hack on socialists, communists and nitwits. Can not for the life of me figure out how things work over there, so I simply snipe at random targets. I have no idea if anyone is shooting back.

Sounds like it is "donate and else."

Boloco’s Pepper had it right when he said “Between the union rackets, bureaucracy, red tape, and lack of graciousness, it’s a wonder anything gets done.”

It makes me wonder what he and Mumbles talked about in their phone call that led to Pepper’s later comments becoming so forgiving.

Love the comment about “union rackets”. Thought that the Democrats were honest, upright, law abiding, leaders of Beantown.

Gee, sounds just like the Mafia situation in New York I saw when I worked on an Organized Crime Task Force.

FOT? The Union racketeers - Friends of Teddy?

Anybody know who the “racketeers” are in Boston? Part of the Gambino/Gotti mob or the Patriarcha Family?

It’s just like they teach you in Econ 101 “There’s no such thing as a free burrito”.
