MSNBC Enters Phase Two of ‘Lean Forward’
TV Newser ^ | April 25, 2011 | Alex Werpin

Posted on 04/25/2011 12:18:17 PM PDT by Beaten Valve

MSNBC is entering the second phase of its “Lean Forward” branding campaign, its first without former 8 PM host Keith Olbermann.

Director Spike Lee is returning to helm the new ads, along with a new director of photography: Matthew Libatique, best known for his work on the film “Black Swan.”

The new ads focus on Chris Matthews, Lawrence O’Donnell, Rachel Maddow and Ed Schultz, and are set at various locales across the country, like the Hoover Dam:

MSNBC president Phil Griffin spoke to B&C‘s Jon Lafayette about the new campaign (subscription required):

MSNBC President Phil Griffin says “Lean Forward” expresses a progressive, positive sensibility and a desire to work toward making America a better place. “This isn’t just a marketing tagline,” Griffin says. “It’s the way we want to approach how we do our job every day.”

It’s also the sort of marketing a channel can do when it’s gotten some ratings traction, he says. MSNBC is now the No. 2 news network behind Fox News Channel, ahead of CNN. “We’re finally part of the culture and people are aware of what we’re doing,” Griffin says, adding that the campaign’s first wave helped boost ratings and improve other measures of brand health.

Something like: “We are a mouthpiece for the hardcore left and you neanderthal conservatives better get used to it.”
Bring it on, pukes.

"Lean Forward" is a Democratic Talking point to lean forward into Democratic Socialism.

In other words, more of the same blah, blah, blah, if not more so.

Most idiots careening down a ski slope 'lean forward' - they go faster. It's only when they discover that they've careened too far and have flown off a cliff, that they panic and try to put on the brakes, limbs akimbo.

Apparently some slick 'branding' ad-man (or hot ad-chick) has gotten to management and blown daisies up their keesters. It will just make their bottom line even worse.

Progressives are merely Marxists in drag, every one of these maggots is a millionaire (Matthews, Maddow, Schultz, et al) who want to be the Nomenklatura when the Commie policies break down our currency and economy.

Liberalism is not compassionate, it’s a way to implement 100% control of life and death to bureaucrats and politicians.

... and a desire to work toward making America a better place...

And, right there, this is exactly what is wrong with modern "journalists". Instead of just reporting who, what, when, where and why. They want to change the world.

Spike Lee to direct? Too funny, well he should have plenty of time now that his beloved Knicks were swept off the court in the NBA playoffs by the Celtics.

Putting their fortunes on the back of Chris Matthews isn’t a winning strategy. What must they be thinking?

Rachel Maddow appeals only to the Rosie O’Donnell crowd. I’m not sure how relevant that is any more.

I can’t comment on Ed Schulz because I’ve never seen him.

And they are beating CNN? CNN must have basically given up the evening viewership. I don’t care, because I never watched them anyway.

This is just another arrow in the quiver of BIASED MEDIA.

Write it down in permanent marker!

ABC, NBC, CBS. All the “Stalwarts” of American television journalism, and oh so out on the limb of Leftist Politics.

It just makes me laugh out loud when Liberals tell me how terrible "Faux" News is, despite having Chris Wallace, Geraldo Rivera(!!!), Alan Colmes, Greta Van Sustern, Juan Williams, Kristin Powers... Where are the conservative equivalents on MSNBC? Crickets.....

So when Brian Williams insists that his network is not biased, remember MSNBC does it for them. Williams will have Matthews, Maddow and O'Donnell on. And we can point and say, “Bias right there, you hypocritical lying bastard, right there!”

There is little doubt that MSNBC has leaned far enough forward that they are falling down. That is okay - they deserve it.

I would expect that within the next couple years, they will either radically change their programming or they will go off the air. You simply can’t play to less than 15% of the country (kooks and very far leftists) and continue to make money. After all, almost all advertisers need to appeal to at least a majority of the citizens.

All MSNBC is now is a echo chamber. I just watch one of the prime time shows for a few minutes. I can summarize:

Host: You know, the Republicans will be out in force campaigning, because that what it really is, blaming President Obama for high gas prices. It’s not his fault.
Guest1: Absolutely. I mean look, Obama has appointed commission to study the problem. He is doing something about it.
Host: Absolutely. He is doing such a great job with the resistance from Republicans he has.
Guest2: I don’t know what else he could do, we know drilling dosen’t work. We need regulation.
Guest1: Yep. We need more regulations
Host: That was informative. After the break...

I feel dumber after watching that network for even a few minutes.
