The scoop from Washington

Why Obama, Michelle, are Oprah show guests on Wednesday By Lynn Sweet on April 25, 2011

WASHINGTON--President Obama and First Lady Michelle fly to Chicago on Wednesday afternoon to tape an Oprah Winfrey show, and White House Press Secretary Jay Carney was asked Monday why the First Couple agreed to the interview.

"Her show is coming to a conclusion of a -- of a terrific run," said Carney of Winfrey's decision to fold the show this year after 25 years.

"And I think, as you know, he considers Oprah a friend and he looks forward to being on the show with the first lady."

I’m sure Oprah will NOT be paying for the flight. Just like she doesn’t pay when she gives away 200 Pontiacs. The “winners” of those cars are stuck with tax, title and license while Oprah simply gives Pontiac a couple of on air mentions.

Three blatant racists all at the same time . . . how lucky we are. I haven't paid attention to Doprah for many many years . . . she's a racist and a hypocrite and those two grifters living in our White House fit very well on her show . . . It's too bad, though, that we taxpayers have to foot the bill to get the deadbeats to her studio.

Last time, Oprah labeled 0bama “The One.” So, is she going to dub him “The One More Time?”

I would gladly take a free car even if I was responsible for tax title and license. I am no fan of Oprah, but I won’t scoff at free large ticket gifts.

Wasn’t Mochelle just recording an episode of The View last week when her flight almost overran the C-17 on the way back.

Desperate attempts by the puppet masters to preserve the Black hegemony, the Chocolate Borgias. Oprah and Obama, what a match made in heaven, a life of nothing and life of talking about life of nothings. I am so looking forward to election night Nov 6th, 2012 the wailing and gnashing of teeth coming from Grant Park will be biblical.

“I would gladly take a free car...”

...absolutely! The perception of these giveaways is that Oprah ponies up the bucks for her viewers. She does give up a few minutes of air time, but she’s not shelling out of pocket cash either. It’s an Oprah win win.

How about that VILONIA, Ark. tornado last night zero? Three dead, town almost obliterated. Dozens missing. Four dead elsewhere in Ark. More tornados expected today. Where’s our Hope Obama?

I dislike Oprah as much as anyone, but sniping about her acts of generosity is silly. Whoever pays for what the audience gets in terms of gifts, the audience gets the gift. Oprah had a hand in it. I give Oprah credit for that one.

And as for complaining about tax and title... are you serious? Give me any new car, even a complete piece of crap like an Obama Motors Volt, and I’ll deal with tax and title. I won’t complain for a second.

Any appearance on a TV or radio show that is so outwardly Pro Obama should be considered a paid political advertisment and subject to FEC and FCC rules.

Why sure, don't you remember when President Kennedy appeared on I Love Luci? And President Reagan doing an appearance on M*A*S*H? Oprah.... 25 years of dumbing down the American public... and glorifying and enriching Oprah.

I read a couple of weeks ago that Oprah isn’t going to endorse or campaign for Obama in ‘12. Not that she won’t vote for him and do what she can privately, but apparently the ‘08 venture hurt her ratings. Her new channel is struggling. She can’t afford the exposure.

The problem is that it has the “feel” of the elite throwing alms to the “little people”. Is everyone (actually ANYONE) in the audience so poor and downtrodden that they need a gift from Oprah like mana from heaven? I doubt it. The whole screaming and fainting and jumping is so school-girlish and childish. It’s mindless group dynamics, like a Justin Beiber concert. If Oprah wanted to really help, scour the list of homeless shelters in Chicago. Find out women with children who have no transport and get give THEM 200 cars, with tax/title/insurance paid for, and gas for a year. That would help people, not those who may or may not need a car for the kid going off to college.

A friend of mines daughter won a new Mini Cooper valued at $20,000. The tax she was going to have to pay was near $10,000. She was offered the car or $10,000. She took the money but probably lost half of that in taxes.
