African Americans have staged a rally in Washington to protest against socioeconomic disparities in the US and failures to provide jobs to the black communities.
Members of the New Black Panther Party and the Black is Back coalition converged in a neighborhood in DC's Southeast quadrant for a National Day of Action, demanding attention to inequalities in education, housing and healthcare, a Press TV correspondent reported on Monday.
Protesters were particularly outraged by US President Barack Obama's failure to address the black communities' problems as figures show black unemployment hovers at staggering 16 percent nationwide.
"I'm very angry and disappointed because we supported him because he promised us change but he's just the same," an angry protester told Press TV.
According to the latest US Labor Department figures, overall jobless rates across the country fell to a better-than-expected 8.8 percent in March, but the unemployment rate also for black teenagers stood at 50 percent -- more than double the national average.

Obama didn’t even have to reach out for these peoples’ votes; they were delivered to him automatically. He won’t have to next year, either.
I will never forget my dingbat sister saying that she was going to vote for Obama (despite claiming to be a Hannitized conservative) because he would do a lot for black families.
This was before her no good black husband took his black self out of the picture, leaving her and their child to fend for themselves with no support and my sister unemployed. I keep wanting to ask her if Obama has sent her a check or something or stopped by to babysit while she looked for work.

I’m just curious, what do the blacks think Osama can do for them?
Education is nearly free in this country and those with educations and marketable skills are having little trouble finding good jobs.
So what exactly do they think he can do, make them all CEO’s making $1 million a year with nothing more than a 7th grade education?
Somehow magically make them all doctors or whatnot?
The key to a good paying job is education and training, acquiring skills that are in demand and all of that is available for basically free if you were to go to a Community College or State College.
Heck you can get a nursing degree for nearly free in TN and have a $40,000 plus a year job waiting on you when you graduate.
Do they want it all magically given to them somehow?

I find it telling that eeeeevil corporation McDonald’s (recent bad news events, aside) has probably done more to help unemployed blacks with their “50,000 hiring day” than the first black president...

In fairness, I can understand they would be irate when Obama’s (largely white) buddies are making million dollar bonuses through his crony capitalist ways while most black are suffering, and are being taken for granted by him. (It’s really no different than what he did as an Illinois state senator- they should’ve realized this earlier).
When people start to focus on a group’s misery, as opposed to favoring one chosen individual who is supposed to be a proxy for the rest (Obama, Jesse Jackson, etc.), the sad truth starts to appear. What can I say? Drop the hostility, and give true free-market capitalism a fresh look...
