Giuliani leaving ‘door open’ to White House run
Washington Times ^ | 04/26/2011 | Ben Birnbaum

Former New York Mayor Rudolph W. Giuliani told The Washington Times on Tuesday that he is keeping “the door open” to a 2012 presidential bid, saying he might jump into the race if he believes the other candidates are unelectable.

Mr. Giuliani is slated to speak next month in New Hampshire, where he finished fourth among 2008 Republican presidential candidates in the first-in-the-nation primaries.

“I’m going to go to New Hampshire to speak to a law enforcement group, so that’s really the main purpose of the speech, but I keep in contact with people in New Hampshire and try to figure out what kind of a chance I have,” Mr. Giuliani said in an interview. “At this point, I’m not actively considering it, but I have the door open.”

In New Hampshire, Mr. Giuliani will appear at a May 12 house party sponsored by the Granite Oath PAC of Ovide Lamontagne, whose failed 2010 U.S. Senate bid was supported by the tea party.

The Granite Oath PAC has held similar gatherings for two potential GOP presidential candidates, former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty and former Pennsylvania Sen. Rick Santorum, and is planning an event for former House Speaker Newt Gingrich later next month.

Mr. Giuliani said he was looking at other possible candidates as he weighs whether to mount a repeat bid.

“What will factor into my decision is what kind of chance the people that are running have to win and beat President Obama,” he said. “I think it’s vital we have a different president in 2013.”

"Big mouth ass clown Schumer would sh** a brick"

Nah.... He'd probably move on to be a lobbyist for a large bank or some hedge fund, and become wealthy beyond our wildest dreams, while screwing up the country nearly as much as he is now..... /puke

Unfortunately, I think Giuliani expended whatever political capital he had on his crash-before-takeoff campaign in 2008.

His cabinet? He’s got plenty of dresses in his cabinet. Ready to go. He’s got his high heels on and is ready to run.

Someone tell this old guy his time in the sun has passed. He was good right after 9/11, but half the voters have forgotten it happened.

We need a new guy, maybe Paul Ryan, to run against Omama.

I don't think it's that bad. The Republican incumbent had been unpopular for quite a while when the market downturn became apparent, followed by a financial crisis, followed by very unpopular emergency measures by said Republican incumbent. It's a wonder anyone tried for to run for the GOP ticket that year, but (surprise, surprise) we ended up with an apologist RINO. Meanwhile, everyone was worried about a Hillary Clinton candidacy and Obama was considered to be an also ran along with tired old candidates like Biden, IIRC. Fast forward to 2011. It isn't even 2012 yet and everything's in reverse. So there are a lot of unknowns trying for the nomination, and there is no GOP messiah yet. Can it possibly be worse than McCain in 2008?

Actually, yes it can. Trump. McCain was the MSM's favorite GOP candidate. That makes McCain the closest thing we're going to get to a GOP "messiah". Like Trump, McCain is a RINO. The difference is that McCain actually has a few convincing conservative stances on some issues, and he's taken seriously by the press.

Rudy will be another guy who sees what will happen to him in a GOP primary and decide to say, “No thanks.”
