OK, I didn't think he endorsed Sharia. Thanks.

How is it possible that the same 50 or so people seem to always show up?

Because the powers that be require politically reliable mediocrities that will do as they are told and deliver the results desired (even if the results appear disastrous to us).

It is as ludicrous to imagine there is no one more gifted for the office of SecDef than Leon Panetta as it is to believe that Ellen DeGeneres has more entertainment ability than anyone else on the planet. In both cases, they have friends in high places who will utilize them in perpetuity.

In other words, Gates bails and no one wants to replace him.

Panetta as SecDEF? Ya gotta be kidding me.....!!

This is an astoundingly bad development for the armed forces and the American people.

The nefarious political motive is to neutralize GEN Petraeus as a potential GOP VP pick.

Assuming that Sarah Palin or Michelle Bachmann could win the GOP nomination-- wouldn't Petraeus bring great balance to the ticket? Heck, he would be an asset to any of the possible nominees.

MSNBC.com: Sources told the Associated Press that Obama was expected to also announce that Lt. Gen. John Allen would replace Petraeus as Afghanistan commander, and that diplomat Ryan Crocker will be the next U.S. ambassador in Afghanistan.

On the surface maybe, but I've heard him say some things that make me wonder how conservative he is. I'd have to know a LOT more about his views to know if I'd support him or not. He's not a certainty at all. There are lots of lib and RINO generals.

Oh great!

We are going to turn the Military to some Far Left, Obamabot, sycophant, Moonbat and put in charge of our CIA, another PC, Multiculturalist, who has been in the forefront and responsible for the insane "Nation Building" (with all its attendant ROE's which are responsible for untold numbers of needless American casualties) in A-Stan.

God help us!

actually Panetta has looked pretty sane compared to most of this administration. I am surprised he is being given this post, honestly.

Betrayus also commented that the genesis of all the problems in the middle east is because of Israel. He tried to walk that back but his comments were ignorant and vile.

Agreed. While Panetta is a lib, he's always struck me as an American.

What person in this administration would be a good SecDef? I can't think of a single one.

So many who supported Gates and Petraeus from 07 to 08 now turn on them because “out guy” isn’t CIC. I’m waiting for someone to say Petraeus was actually in Kenya for Obama’s birth too.

Doesn’t make sense to me?

Playing musical chairs for the sake of playing musical chairs. Much like the TSA offers the illusion of security, this move makes it appear like Obamalamadingdong is doing something. Panetta's willingness to be played as a pawn doesn't surprise me. If General Petraeus goes along with this it would be a surprise. This would all be hysterically funny if it weren't so serious.....

Good, now the delusional GOPers cannot nominate the foolish “3 cups of tea” Petraeus to any other office. IMO Petraeus is a younger version of idiot McCain.
