Is there lots of abuse? Yeah. Is everyone corrupt? No, Not even "most". There are many people who won't eat if they weren't available.
Do you not realize that many of the elderly get SS checks of less than $500 per month, and a single electric/fuel bill in winter can wipe that out. Much of our enlisted military depend on food stamps to make things work. We must preserve our elder/truly needy assistance, and get rid of the graft... but not with Obama and company...
see #221, sorry but I added others and lost the reply for you...
No worries. In a few years, Grandpa and Grandma will have to go to work to earn their daily bread because SS will have run out.
That is, assuming grandpa didn’t piss off his kids by saying “youre not getting any of my money for college!”.
What comes around, goes around.
In Ohio, you can use the EBT cards for fast-food restaurants.
I think I have seen EBT cards used at Golden Corral as well is that possible?
Not in most states. From the signs I see posted recently here in OK, they seem to be cracking down on some of the misuse. I’d like to see the ebt cards limited to basic healthy food like beans, rice, milk, cheese, eggs, cheap chicken, fruit and vegetables, and cooking staples.
That reminds me, a bit, of a line I once heard on TV (I think it was on The New Adventures of Old Christine; but I'm not sure): "I don't get all dressed up to go to the Dollar Store, the way I do to go to Walmart."
Just to warn you, there are many on this very website who call anyone who receives SS “geezers” or “parasites”. They additionally believe that anyone who takes SS is starving their future grandchildren and they also researched SS and found out that the USSC ruled that SS is indeed a welfare program. They will tell you that you don’t deserve SS because it is bankrupting the country. And they think that SS should be means tested (creating another entitlement to non-workers).
Food stamps is a federally funded program. Most programs are, some freebies are shared expenses. The feds will give the states 2 dollars for every one dollar spent on these programs, that is why the states don’t really want to cut benefits either.
I think 97% of Freepers would agree with you. The other 3% are the hard-core “I’ve got mine so screw you.” type.
No one that I know would begrudge food from a child or the elderly or the disabled. Unfortunately, it seems that there are waaaaaay to many healthy/able bodies people who know how to game the system, with a compliant government that takes from the producers to give to the freeloaders.
I don't particularly care what uninformed, uneducated people say about anything. When I was paying 15% or so of my income every year to the government to protect myself in my old age, I feel that they own me the security they promised. That having been said, I realize that it is a ponzi scheme. If they would have offered me my money back with reasonable interest, I'd have taken it. It was a democrat who thought up this mess, democrats who decided to use the dedicated monies for their own extravagant spending habits......not my fault but nevertheless, my money!
WALMARTIANS OUT OF SAUCER FUEL AS MOONBATS ATTACK
That would have been today...when I looked down at the cart I was pushing. I then repeated it over again when I stopped at the local grocery store. Both carts came to less then $85 each...but that did not make me feel like a pauper, I felt thankful that I could feed my family on a reasonable budget. And for some reason my “race” never came into my thought process...
“I remember my mom paying 110.00 and the cart overflowing. That was 1992”
I went shopping today at the local grocery store and walked out with an overflowing cart...cost $69. It felt pretty good.
We also have been stocking up and are now at the point that we shop mostly sales...left the local grocery store today with an overflowing cart of groceries and it only cost $69...it felt very good.
To help keep our costs down we shop at Sam's Club a couple of times a year...you have to know your price points since some items are more expensive then at Walmart but you can save a lot if you pick the right products...we save a bundle on peanut butter alone.
We have a good size garden and am in the process of increasing the size again...between the larger garden and most of the rest of the yard being used by the sheep and cow I will have to do very little mowing this year.
“Our church just had a gardening workshop on growing your own veggies,”
Your church was wise to do this...hopefully more will do the same...
God bless
Raise your hand if you work for a living and get paid once a month...
...
I thought so...
Wal-Mart jumping in to the mix is to much for Soros to handle. They can bury him.
Anyone remember why the switch was made from food stamps to the EBT card? I do.
“2) They no longer have much of a selection of products, and some products I used to buy there are no longer on the shelves.”
Wally World just announced they will be adding many products back to the stores including guns.
“I do my grocery shopping at WalMart. In the last 4 months, every time I checked out, the person in front of me was using an EBT card.”
Strange when we shop at walmart, we only worry about how we pay for our purchase.
