Groupon pulls ads from Trump site

NEW YORK (CNNMoney) -- Guns, abortion and Donald Trump: Three topics so controversial that Groupon doesn't want its brand anywhere near them.

The daily-deals website said late Thursday that it will pull its ads from the website of Donald Trump's television show "The Apprentice" to distance itself from the "political criticism" swirling around Trump and his presidential ambitions.

"Enough consumers have contacted us to warrant ensuring that we don't place ads on the 'Apprentice' homepage in the future," the company said in a post on its blog. "It's the same reason we don't run deals on guns or abortion ... this isn't a political statement, it's avoiding intentionally upsetting a segment of our customers."

Well, I've watched that show before, and there's nothing "political" about that it. Groupon caved because Soros flooded them with complaints to "punish" Trump because he's been picking on poor widdle Obama.

I disagree. If you're an entertainer and you get involved in politics, you run off 50% of your market.

Groupon is doing what I would do.

Groupon didn’t seem to have a problem when Trump was bashing George W. Bush.

Funny how that works.

And just like businesses paying "protection" money to mob extortionists, it encourages to continue such tactics.

“If you’re an entertainer and you get involved in politics”

Sound like 90% of the media to me, full of leftist agitprop.

“you run off 50% of your market”

Unfortunately not. Maybe you run off 10%, but the 40% who should run off stay glued to the idiotbox, in my experience.

Soros was hitting two companies yesterday. So the other one stayed?

Do you boycott movies and most musicians?

Write Groupon a nice letter and let them know how you feel about their decision.

No, it only works one way. Liberal loons are always using their shows as a platform to voice their opinions, and Trump hasn’t even done that. Trump’s ratings, btw, have gone waaaaaaaaay up since he started all this.

It’s one thing to have your “market” decide to not support you as an entertainer and entirely another to have leftist pressure groups getting sponsors to boycott your entertainment product. The left uses this tactic on people like Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh.

Where’s the “boycott” of George Clooney or Sean Penn films?

Look at the amount of effort it took to get sponsors to boycott the Wonkette site because of the tasteless Trip Palin piece. And you know the sponsors will sneak back as soon as the conservatives look away.

I don’t boycott them. I just am not interested in listening to them.

If the muslims and the communists (less than 30% of the market) can kill a company they don’t like, the rest (70%) should be able to kill every company favoring the left.

Just do it.

You are exactly correct in this. Conservatives are too darned lazy and self-centered to deny themselves the entertainment. The left has no compunction in this regard. They will finish you if they can as opposed to the right which keeps these leftie entertainers rich and famous.

"...Soros flooded them with complaints to "punish" Trump because he's been picking on poor widdle Obama. "

And that's essentially what their message to the sponsors said, asking if they were going to support someone ridiculing "our President", as if it is the dignity of the office they're concerned about, rather than the front-man in their evil conspiracy.
