I’m not sure things are that simple.
I sat outside of LA during the Rodney King riots with a couple of battalions of Marines, we were one order away from moving against the American people. I didn’t hear anyone talking about not obeying orders.
I heard from the snipers later, that they had been moved into the city and they had intervened in areas where public safety vehicles were being fired upon.
My dad flew B-17's and I grew up around a couple of his friends that also flew them. I learned what sacrifice was from those men. They instilled into me a deep love and respect for America.
I know that rioting and looting are not the same as demanding Constitutional rights and refusing to adhere to laws... laws that so violently and outrageously violate the Constitution as to compel one to balk at their being. Will our Military of today turn on Citizens carrying out Constitutionally protected liberties, where the Russian military has refused... when they turned their tank turrets away from the Russian people and trained them on the Politburo? I am truly wanting to know. That is truly a scary thing to contemplate.
One more thing for you to think about... if it is true that the Military would follow their orders to kill Americans abiding within the US Constitution and its rights and liberties... then everything that our Fine Military has ever fought for... everything that this great Nation stands for... all of it is an illusion that is just one Military order away from extinction.

“...we were one order away from moving against the American people. I didnt hear anyone talking about not obeying orders.”
But those weren’t the American people — they were hoards of street thugs running out of control, looting, raping and killing at will. And all of your fellow soldiers knew it.
There is a huge difference between facing common criminals and your dad, uncle and grandfather.
