Administration appears complicit in Mexican firearms smuggling scheme
The Obama administration on Friday renewed its proposal to force gun dealers in four southwest border states to register multiple firearms sales. According to its filing in the Federal Register, the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) wants to create detailed records of whenever anyone attempts to purchase more than one semi-automatic rifle in Arizona, California, New Mexico and Texas. The registry scheme highlights Department of Justice (DOJ) hypocrisy on the gun issue.
DOJ claims information on law-abiding gun owners might help prevent Mexican drug cartels from obtaining American weapons. At the same time, DOJ and ATF are actively resisting a subpoena from a congressional committee demanding information regarding the ATFs own role in promoting actual sales of guns to drug lords. One of these weapons was reportedly used in a December ambush that claimed the life of Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry. To date, Justice has allowed House Oversight and Government Reform staff to view a handful of redacted papers, but an April 8 letter from DOJs legislative affairs office claimed the rest of the material was confidential and wouldnt be released because it was related to ongoing criminal investigations.
Lawmakers are far from satisfied. They have not complied with the terms of the subpoena, committee spokesman Becca Watkins told The Washington Times. Weve basically been stonewalled. The committee sent its own team of investigators to Arizona to look into the matter directly, and their findings are likely to guide the response to DOJs recalcitrance.

“Holder and Obama had to know about this.”
I’ll get to the link you posted in a moment, but first it would seem to me the pressure to instigate this entire harebrained project had to have come from high up the chain to even get people to move on it. It’s too idiotic for most people to just blindly acknowledge, and proceed without a boot in their tail ends.
It’s time for states to declare the federal fascist government a criminal enterprise.
Hopefully, this can become O’s Watergate. That took a while to build steam too.
Can you imagine being a mid to high level employee of ATF signing off on something like this?
They're going to want the okay from high level people in the DOJ and probably the WH.
Didn’t O tell Mrs. Brady he was working under the table?
Justice and obama need to disclose how many firearms they have sold to Mexico and S.A. that have ended up in the hands of narco terrorists.
Supplying AK 47's to narco Terrorists in a foreign sovereign nation? Criminal?........ Pffffttttt.....
More like an act of WAR!
Don't forget about the whole reason was an attempt to subvert the 2nd Amendment! (Treason)
No wonder he bombed Liby, and Trumped up a BC!
What Wacky stunt will B Wacky Insane0 pull next?
I hear you and what a cause for celebration if it happens.
Absolutely. CYA is the play of the day.
Yes he did.
the article reads:
The Obama administrations position in effect is that nobody can investigate the Justice Department - not even Congress.
That is scary .. they need to take action on this immediately - a line in the sand. If congress doesn;t force his hand on this, they are allowing Pandora’s box to open
That’s correct. Congress has the responsibility of oversight.
Of course Zer0 and his lapdog Holder don’t recognize that and will stonewall, Congress has to push forward and do their job, and quickly.
That pesky congress will just have to go away .. they are getting in Obama’s elbow room you know.
Man they better move and move fast, he is out of control now, not even trying to act as if he is obeying the law. I mean, the whole facade has broken down. It’s blatant.
You got that right. Those border state governors need to get together and kick the ATF out of their states. Its the only way to stop this outrageous Fed behaviour.
Holder and obama, hypocrites to the nth degree.
