Back in the glory days of the American free press, reporters and editors prided themselves on holding the powerful accountable.

We called it "afflicting the comfortable and comforting the afflicted."

We knew the central role of a free press in a free society is to serve as a watchdog on government and other powerful institutions.

Today, for the most part, America has a controlled press – one more suited to making excuses for the powerful, parroting the party line, demeaning efforts to hold officials accountable for their actions and serving as little more than propaganda agents for their favorite politicians.

If you want to see a classic example of what I'm talking about, look no further than an April 23 Associated Press story, circulated worldwide by the largest news-gathering organization on the globe, about the concern over Barack Obama's refusal to demonstrate his constitutional eligibility to serve in the White House.

It's a journalistic scandal.

Why? Because this story was written before Obama released the long-form birth certificate he has been hiding for nearly three years.

It begins by pointing out Hawaii records available to the public show a birth record for Barack Hussein Obama – and reporter Mark Niesse wonders why few others have bothered to look at it.

Niesse could have picked up the phone and asked me. I would gladly have told him. Because that record provides even less information than the document that generated it – the certification of live birth we've all seen.

I'm thinking that Uh-bama covering up his entire past is something he can bludgeon Conservatives with, because they'll be more focused on his birth certificate/grade transcripts/legal writings, instead of his turning America into a 20% effective unemployment, 3rd world, tribalistic $hithole his Dad came out of and Barry, Jr. wants to emulate.

What Trump's "candidacy" did was show how to defeat Obama, which is to relentlessly attack his record and to ask "Are you better off now than you were $14 Trillion ago?"

I just posted this on another thread, but it exactly expresses my thoughts on the issue:

Ordinarily, I am not a conspiracy theorist, but I am beginning to think the release of this so-called authentic BC has a more sinister purpose. The Obamabots wanted to do something to satisfy those who don't really care about the issue and will take it at face value. This will improve the polling numbers on the issue. At the same time, the obvious problems with the one that was released will only fuel the fire for those of us who have always thought he was hiding something by going to such great lengths to cover up the details of his background.

It puts those of us who are sickened at the thought of someone who is not a NBC no matter where he was born getting away with the fraud that has been perpetrated on this great county in a bit of a quandary. If the SCOTUS and the Congress are unlikely to do anything about the situation, is it better for us to lay low and allow him to continue to fail or give him an issue that he can use to make us look irrational? Freepers, what do you think?

BTW,I have never thought Obama could possibly be the Antichrist because there has never been any indication that he could have been born in what was once the Holy Roman Empire. At the same time, I can not imagine anyone who could better represent the way the Antichrist is depicted - a purely evil, false prophet whose goal is to cause the people to believe a lie.

For years he's been obsessing over the "Birth Certificate" and how there must be a grand conspiracy to hide important information contained therein. It turns out Farah's conspiracy campaign only managed to unearth information that was well known and well established.

So if the question is eligibility, why did all those billboards you suckered people into financing say "Where's The Birth Certificate?"
(...and I wonder how many of those billboard campaign dollars went into your pocket?)
