I have this feeling of dread now.

She was probably yawning.

You stated that very well. If that had happened while Bush was still in office, you know that many of these students would have been saying that it was an “unlawful act”. My son has joined the marine reserves. He and his friends are openly happy about the death of OBL, but they will be putting their lives on the line.

That is what I feel bitter/sweet. I do feel satisfied that 3,000 families can have some closure and a feeling of justice for their loved ones. However, that scene last night made me ill. Already had the Obama/Biden signs up.

Am I happy he is dead? Yes, but I am done hearing about it, we have thousands of troops in Afghanistan and Iraq who STILL had to do patrols and dodge IED’s and Snipers and be watchful of ambushes. For them the fight is still on and my mind and prayers are with them.

I do LOVE the fact that a bullet courtesy of the SEALS took him out instead of a bomb!

Cheer up. This could have an especially demoralizing effect on Al Qaeda and jihadis in general. OBL was a folk hero so long as he was portrayed as a cave-dweller who out-witted the most technologically advanced military force in history. Now we know the truth to be quite different.

How will OBL's reliance on a Pak home-base and possible assistance from retired (and maybe even active) Pak officers be interpreted in a shame/honor-based society like they have in the sandbox?

There is cause for optimism.

Are we supposed to cry and sob over his death! Wring our hands and moan “what a tradegy!” He sure didn’t when he was told about the death count and the collapse of the World Trade Center. Osama was very proud of himself. I remember people in the Middle East jumping for joy when they heard what had happened to America on 9/11. Bin Laden got just what he deserved and kudos to those who made it happen.

Right. We have a war on. It’s not a Championship Football game where we run out into the street w/ faces painted and sporting T-shirts for our “team.”

If anything, just some reverence would have been in order —for the 3,000 dead from the WTC, the Pentagon, and the what, some almost 5,000 dead now from both conflicts that have lasted now almost 10 years. I just think of all who have died, and more who have suffered in countless ways ...limbs gone, families apart all this time, all that the American people have had to go through w/ searches and living with terror threats.

People honestly just should have bowed their heads and had a moment of silence. That’s it. Or just filed past the WTC and left messages, whatever.

I think people are just so down they will grab onto anything these days ...it’s sad. Or, it’s just all about their politics.
