LIMA It was more than just an answer to prayer. A US military mission that cornered and killed Osama bin Laden in Pakistan was nothing short of a miracle, said Peru's President Alan Garcia, who attributed the divine intervention to newly beatified pontiff John Paul II. "His first miracle has been to rid the world of this incarnation of evil, this demon of hatred and criminality," the Peruvian leader said, referring to the Al-Qaeda leader.
The late John Paul II showed uncanny timing, with his miracle falling on the very same day as a Rome ceremony beatifying him. Pope Benedict XVI on Sunday bestowed the status of "blessed" on his predecessor in front of a million people, after the Roman Catholic Church determined that John Paul had performed the necessary miracle for beatification.
Garcia said the late pontiff wasted no time in performing the second miracle needed for sainthood, making it possible for American commandos to find and kill their hated Al-Qaeda foe, whom they had hunted for the past decade.
"We hope that with his fall, that entire group that had hoped to spread terrorism throughout the world loses its importance," Garcia said.
The Peruvian leader said Sunday's assault on bin Laden's compound "should please President Barack Obama and vindicate former president George W. Bush," whose relentless pursuit of a global "war on terror" became a central focus of US foreign and military policy during his tenure....

Am I bad for thinking this yesterday?
Hope not because I thought the same thing, and thanked him. Fat chance that it’ll show up in the casebook, though.
Hmmmm.... Who to credit for the death of Osama bin Laden?
The Obamessiah or a Pope who’s been dead for 6 years?
Credit the Seals who did it and the Intelligence people who have been working this day and night for years. Anyone else needs to be in line to thank them, not in line for credit.
I have no doubt whatsoever that He both uses and protects our military sometimes, especially when they’re fighting the armies of the prophet of the moon god, Satan. I also have no doubt that if He wants a particular individual, living or dead, to be given credit for something He can make that point very clearly so that we mere mortals don’t have to wonder about it.
The reward price on OBL’s head was what, $10,000,000.00 ?
Every cent should be given to the Wounded Warriors program.
OK, quick, while he’s in a granting mood:
Someone pray for 1/2 the Senators to die (you know which ones), 3 supreme court justices, (you know which ones), and about 50 more Congressmen, and for clueless Joe our new President.
. . . . (Joking . . . well, dreaming, but really joking).
Believe me, the idea did cross my mind. My list is longer than yours, because it includes some executive branch needs for miracles.
I am going with the dead Pope. Even the Leftwing Alan Garcia wasn’t willing to credit the Obamessiah.
I wonder how Lori Berenson is doing these days now that she’s out of prison. Watch her convert to Islam.

She is still in Peru under some kind of house arrest, I think. Article here if you read Spanish, in which she claims to be as innocent and pure as the driven snow.
Please. This was meant to be light-hearted.
Do you mean, Alan Grayson?
This tying the Pope’s beatification to the killing of OBL reminds me of R. Lee Ermey’s soliloquy in Full Metal Jacket on Christmas.
Please freepmail me if you want on/off this list
I totally agree. I cannot imagine Pope John Paul II wanting his sainthood to be connected with someone’s death.
Seriously, JPII was opposed the U.S.-led Persian GulfWar in 1991 and the Iraq War.
Take it up with Presidente Garcia.
