I really don’t think a Republican candidate would need that much cash. I think the Silent Majority, the disillusioned far Left and middle America are about to speak and there is very little advertising can do to stop it. Let Obama spend his money. We don’t need it.

This is nothing more than a way of allowing Scheunemann to leave with some dignity. One can tell as much by the fact he was replaced by an ideological polar opposite. This wasn’t about Scheunemann not having the “time”. This is about Palin assuming a much more traditional conservative view on foreign policy as opposed to what she was saddled with during the McCain disaster.
I believe she’s always had a good relationship with Scheunemann but clearly his views are no longer compatible with hers. This is a very good move on her part. And I’m saying this as someone who didn’t agree with her Libya position.

High office seeking politicians have been using speech writers for at least a century. Do you really believe that Reagan was told what to say by those who worked for him? He was documenting his conservative beliefs in letters, diaries and op-eds long before he ran for office. He made a damn great president. If you're old enough to remember he gave this country back its self respect after the awful Johnson, Nixon and Kennedy years.

Couldn’t we say that any candidate can raise that kind of cash if they can get enough of a following. If candidates other than Obama, Palin and Trump can’t raise the necessary cash, isn’t that just an excuse for not being a strong enough candidate?
I think I read somewhere that she advocated carpet bombing boots (and other sundry footwear) on Tripoli. The Arabs seem to have some phobia about shoes, and they'd surely raise the white flag if they thought they were in danger of getting hit by some keds, or boots...

The US in terms of proven crude equivalent in oil, natgas, coal and oil shale sits atop the world hierarchy. The numbers I recently saw gave crude equivalent reserves at over 3 trillion barrels. For comparison the numbers given for Saudi Arabia were just over 500 billion barrels (which is iffy because it's tough to get good data out of SA). Russia was actually in second place. A lot of people claim the oil shale which is a huge part of the above number shouldn't be included as it's too costly to produce. However, Shell claims with their ICP technology they can produce a barrel from shale for around $30 (these numbers are now several years old).
Point being, we're energy dependent only because we have a domestic non-energy policy in place which is absolutely crippling.
